Search warrant in Laurel brings drug, firearm arrest

Search warrant in Laurel brings drug, firearm arrest

LAUREL — A 19-year-old Laurel man was arrested on drug dealing and illegal firearms possession charges after a search warrant on his home was executed Tuesday, Delaware State Police said.

According to authorities, during the month of July 2023, detectives began investigating Timothy Cannon who was suspected to be selling guns and drugs in Kent and Sussex counties.

Police said that at approximately 11:16 a.m., troopers executed a search warrant on Mr. Cannon’s residence on the 100 block of Horsey Avenue.
Police said a search of Mr. Cannon’s bedroom yielded a 9mm handgun, ammunition, and magazines, approximately 15.77 grams of cocaine and a digital scale.

Police said seven children were found in the residence during the search warrant execution. None of the children, ages 1, 2, 2, 3, 11, 13, and 15, were injured, according to authorities. The children were turned over to their respective guardians.

Mr. Cannon was charged with possession offenses including firearm during the commission of a felony, firearm by a person prohibited, with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 2 quantity and drug paraphernalia (two counts), along with endangering the welface of a child (seven counts).
Following arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 2, Mr. Cannon was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $37,500 secured bond.
