BETHEL — A 27-year-old Seaford man died in a vehicle crash early Sunday, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Cpl. Amina Ali said.
Police on Monday identified the victim as John Littleton.
Authorities said that at approximately 2:16 a.m., a 2017 white Ford Fiesta was traveling eastbound on Shell Bridge Road west of South Shell Bridge Road. The Ford driven by Mr. Littleton was approaching an S-curve at an apparent high rate of speed, police said.
After negotiating the curve, police said, the Ford lost control and exited the south edge of the roadway. The vehicle went airborne and the man was then ejected from the rolling vehicle, Cpl. Ali said.
Mr. Littleton was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers ask anyone who witnessed this collision to contact Master Cpl. K. Argo by calling 302-703-3264. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
