MILLSBORO – Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning near Millsboro that claimed the life of a 38-year-old Seaford man.
According to state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe, the fatal crash occurred May 19 at approximately 12:55 a.m.
Investigation determined that a 2008 Hyundai Accent driven by the Seaford man was eastbound on Laurel Road (Sr 24) just west of Curley Drive at an apparent high rate of speed.
The operator, who was the only occupant, failed to negotiate a moderate curve. The vehicle went off the roadway into a ditch and struck a utility pole. The operator was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was not properly restrained, Cpl. Jaffe said.
State police are withholding the man’s name pending notification of next of kin.
