SEAFORD — A 46-year-old Seaford man was arrested on drug and gun charges following a search warrant at his residence Wednesday, Delaware State Police said.
Authorities said that at approximately 6:10 a.m., troopers, Seaford Police Department and Delaware Probation and Parole officers executed a search warrant at a residence on the 400 block of North Street. The search warrant was obtained following a several-month-long drug investigation of Avery Cannon, who was suspected of the large-scale distribution of narcotics, police said.
Cannon was the sole occupant of the residence and was taken into custody without incident.
Police said a search located, cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, five handguns (two loaded, one reported stolen), several hundred rounds of ammunition, approximately $14,974 in suspected drug dealing proceeds and various paraphernalia to include digital scales and distribution/packaging materials.
Cannon was charged with possession offenses including firearm during the commission of a felony, with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, firearm by person prohibited, ammunition by a person prohibited and drug paraphernalia, along with receiving a stolen firearm.
Following arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 2 Cannon was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $232,500 cash bond.
