Pocomoke City - Scott Strick Melson, passed away at home peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2013 with his wife by his side, following a long battle with cancer. Scott was born April 26, 1936 in Lewes, Delaware to the late Clayton and Mary Page Melson. He was the owner-operator of Melson Funeral Home in Pocomoke City, Maryland from 1974 until his retirement in 1997. In his years working with the funeral home, Scott gained many lasting friendships as a result of the genuine care taken with beloved departed members of the community of which he called home. He was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church in Pocomoke City and the Pocomoke Elks Lodge #1674. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Watson Melson; children, Carol Melson Eason (James) of Gilmer, Texas, Deb Hamilton (Sherry) of Lewes, Del., Holly Melson Truitt of Lewes, Del., Kevin Watson Melson (Laurie) of Stockton, Md., and Kip Scott Melson (Dawn) of Pocomoke City, Md.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clayton Melson (Linda), Page Melson, Doug Melson (Sharon), and Al Melson; sister, Beth Melson King (James); and brother-in-law, Richard Watson (Carol). Scott was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Melson; and a sister, Mary Lou Melson Fisher. A viewing will be held Monday March 18, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield, Md. Funeral services will be Tuesday March 19, 2013 at 2 p.m at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Pocomoke where a second viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Robert Blevins, Reverend Rowland Scott, and Reverend James Eason. Interment will follow in First Baptist Cemetery in Pocomoke City. If desired, donations may be made to Goodwill Baptist Church, 3824 Stockton Road or Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 1519 Market Street; both Pocomoke City, MD 21851.
