Messick, Jr., 74 DAGSBORO - Samuel Carroll Messick, Jr. died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at the home of his daughter. He was born in Milford, son of the late Samuel C. Sr., and Anna Marie Messick. He was a painter and worked in the maintenance department at Allen Family Foods for 26 years, retiring in 2001. He also served in the National Guard. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diane (Rogers) Messick; four children, Samuel C., III, of Laurel, Elizabeth A. Chronister, Delmar, Md., Thomas A., of Millsboro, Brian J., of Dagsboro; and a grandson whom Sam & Diane helped raise, Brandon L., also of Dagsboro; a brother, Thomas E., of Millsboro; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown with visitation after 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21801, or to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
