NEW CASTLE - Ruth V. Bender passed away August 1st, 2016. Mrs. Bender was a member of the Milton Lion's Club and she loved to crochet, make cakes, watch baseball and collect Native American memorabilia. She and her grandson, Tyler shared a lifetime bond that they both cherished. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold M. Bender. She is survived by Shirley and Billy Carpenter; Steve Wilkins and family; James and Margaret McVey; and finally her adopted family, Donna, Steve and their son, Tyler, and their pets, Chip and Dale, who she has lived with for the last five years. A funeral service will be held on Aug. 5, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, DE 19968 where friends may call after 12 noon. Interment will be at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton. In lieu of flowers donations in Mrs. Bender's memory can be made to: St. Francis Life, 1072 Justison Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
