Ruth Loretta Phillips
BALTIMORE - Ruth Loretta Phillips, 73, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at the Joseph Richey Hospice Center in Baltimore.
She was born in Baltimore on April 8, 1934 and was a daughter of the late Andrew Darius and Ida Louise Condon Hodgson.
She attended schools in Baltimore. On July 20, 1957 she was married to Leroy T. Phillips. She had lived in a number of places with her husband while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They had moved back to Cambridge in 1973. Mr. Phillips passed away on May 22, 2005.
She enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo and slot machines. She had been in failing health for the past 10 years, and had been in the Joseph Richey Hospice for one day when she passed away on Thursday morning.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie M. Folderauer and her husband, Mark S. Folderauer of Baltimore and Sherry L. Collins and her husband, Calvin Collins Jr. of Federalsburg; one son, Robert "Andy" Phillips and his wife, Sheila Phillips of Cambridge; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a stepsister, Patricia Maddox of Orange, Va.; an aunt, Ruth Davidson of Baltimore and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Anne Engle and a son, Keith L. Phillips.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Pastor David Talley officiating. Burial will follow at East New Market Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Collins, Calvin Collins III, Michael Wheatley, Mark S. Folderauer Sr. and Mark S. Folderauer Jr. and John Hurley.
