
Ruth E. Potter, 86
MAGNOLIA - Ruth E. Potter passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth was born on March 19, 1934, in Clayton, N.J., to the late William and Mary (Carter) Earley.
She retired from a career with the State of Delaware, where she served as the executive secretary to the Honorable David P. Buckson. In her free time, Ruth enjoyed sewing, quilting, and creating homemade baskets and bears; and had won the Super Intendent's Award, presented to her by the Governor, for a quilt she entered at the Delaware State Fair at the age of 80. More than anything, Ruth had an absolute love for her family, both immediate and extended. Nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter, all of whom she cherished unconditionally.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Earley; two sisters, Doris Stokes and Mary Ellis; and her beloved grandson, Dustin Hauk.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 65 years, Stanley C. Potter; three daughters, Sandy Murray and husband, Mike, of Felton, Del., Terry Hauk and husband, Steve, of Elkton, Md., and Gabrielle P. Star, of Waynesville, N.C.; six grandchildren, Joshua Ward, of Fort Myers, Fla., Galen Bernard, of Denver, Colo., Kelsie Ward, of Newark, Del., Brandon Hauk, of Columbia, Md., Jillian Ward, of Maitland, Fla. and Dylan Hauk, of Adrian, Mich.; and a great-granddaughter, Alivia Ward-Owens, of Newark, Del.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Del.; beginning with a Visitation for family and friends at 11 a.m., followed by the Service at 12 p.m. All attendees must adhere to the current COVID-19 restrictions of mask wearing, social distancing, and 50 people maximum at a time. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover, Del.
