CAMBRIDGE - Ruby Naomi Jackson, 59, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Dorchester General Hospital after a brief illness. Ruby leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Lakisha Jackson (Norfolk, VA) and Crystal Travers (Preston), Cambridge; two grandchildren whom she loves, Jon'Nesha Camper (Norfolk, VA) and Preston Travers Jr (Cambridge); her mother and father, Roberta and John Sampson (Cambridge); seven brothers, John and Bessie Jackson (North Carolina), Charles Jackson (Salisbury, MD), Mario Sampson (Trappe, Md), Rodney Sampson (Baltimore, MD), Arvialee Sampson (JoAnn), Delaware, Lawrence James (Cindy), Cambridge and Dwight James (Francis), Georgia; three sisters, Karen Sampson and Sharon Chester (both of Cambridge) and Wilma Travers (James), Hoopers Island; Aunts, Goldie Jackson (Preston), Barbara Robinson (Delaware), Audrey Ennals (Baltimore, Md), Catherine Riley, Elaine Stafford, Ella Mae Cornish and Barbara Cummings (all of Cambridge); Uncles, Author McCready (Cambridge), William Sampson (Pensacola), Christ Rock, Calvin Sampson (Baltimore), Alexander Wongus (Geneva), Mardela; and a host of nieces and nephews, several she helped raised, Larry Chester (Chicago), Katyia Chester (Columbia, Md), Shavonta, Da'Monta and Lee Ann Sampson (all of Cambridge); goddaughter, Keyonda Woolford (Cambridge); a host of cousins and friends; and special friends, Mary Camper, Shirley Woolford, Lola Mae, Louise and Ms. Loisie. Funeral services will be noon, Wednesday, Oct. 28, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 712 Bradley Ave., Cambridge, with a viewing two hours prior to the services.
