HOUSTON - Rowena H. Phillips died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at the Harrison House in Georgetown. Born in Denton, Md., Mrs. Phillips was the daughter of the late Daniel Harris and Sallie Porter Harris. Her husband, John L. Phillips, died June 1, 1998. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker. She loved working in the yard with her flowers and garden. But, most of all, she loved her family. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Harris and Daniel Harris, Jr.; and three sisters: Margaret Baker, Pearl Ireland, and Nora Thetford. Mrs. Phillips is survived by one daughter, Jane P. Hammond and her husband Wayne of Houston; three grandchildren, Bryan D. Hammond, Kevin Lee Hammond, and Shelly Luke; and two great grandchildren, Kyle and Cameron. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St. in Denton where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery, 24865 Meeting House Road in Denton.
