Roundup: Woodbridge boys top Lake Forest for 5-0 record

The Woodbridge High boys’ basketball team picked up its fifth straight victory to begin the season with a 43-39 result at Lake Forest High in a Henlopen Conference Southern Division contest on Tuesday night.

Cornell Corbin paced the Blue Raiders (5-0) with 15 points. Te’Vion Waters added 11 points for Woodbridge.

Lake Forest’s leading scorer was Isaiah Morris with 13 points.

Cape Henlopen 48, Dover 46: Ian Robertson netted 16 points as the Vikings held off a late run by Dover in a Henlopen North battle.

Cape built its lead when it outscored Dover 16-8 in the third quarter. The Senators went on a 14-9 run to end the game but came up a basket short.

Eden Davis of Dover was the game’s top scorer with 17 points.

St. Thomas More 54, Red Lion Christian 35: Corey Gordon and Gregory Bloodsworth each netted 11 points in the Raven victory.

Smyrna 59, Polytech 26: The Eagles bounced back from two consecutive losses with a Henlopen North win on Tuesday night.

Smyrna outscored Polytech 16-2 in the game’s final quarter.

Milford 68, Indian River 38: Brion Murray’s 19 points were a game-high and helped lift the Buccaneers over Indian River.

Laurel 57, Delmar 54: Jaquail Bland led the Bulldogs with 15 points to edge their Henlopen South rival.

Brooks Parker poured in 23 points for Delmar.

Seaford 64, Sussex Academy 38: Andrez Jones was one of three Blue Jays in double figures in the nonconference victory.

Jones contributed 13 points while T’Quan Frasier and Nathan Barrett chipped in 12 points apiece.

Girls’ basketball

Polytech 65, Smyrna 40: Tamia Mathias paced the Panthers with 18 points as they won their third in a row.

Courtney Turner scored 17 for Polytech and Kaylee Williams added 16.

Caesar Rodney 49, Sussex Tech 27: Alexis Reid drained three three-pointers and ended with 13 points to lead the Riders.

Brionna Brooks followed with 12 points for CR who remained unbeaten.

St. Thomas More 53, Red Lion 37: Three players — Aniah Patterson, Nicole Rainford, DahNaija Barnes — all scored 14 points for St. Thomas More in the nonconference matchup.

Lake Forest 64, Woodbridge 28: The Spartans earned a Henlopen South victory on the road on Tuesday night.

Dover 35, Cape Henlopen 30: The Senators edged the Vikings at home in a Henlopen North contest Tuesday.

Laurel 47, Delmar 39: The Bulldogs recorded the Henlopen South win over their rivals.
