Smyrna High registered seven pins to remain unbeaten with a 57-17 victory over Milford in a Henlopen Conference wrestling showdown on Friday night.

Winning by fall for the Eagles (9-0), who lead the Henlopen North, were Nick Natarcola, Cole Sebastianelli, Jack Davis, Tony Wuest and Hunter Moyer.

Anthony Diaz had a pin for the Southern Division-leading Buccaneers (7-1).

Indian River 31, Sussex Tech 28: Zeke Marcozzi (195) had the lone pin for the Indians in their victory.

The Ravens received pins from Roberto Santos (132), Jacob Hamer (170) and Carl Schirmer (285).

Girls’ basketball

Cape Henlopen 54, Caesar Rodney 42: Freshman Dania Cannon netted 20 points as the Vikings handed the Riders their first loss of the season.

Cape (5-3 North, 8-6 overall) avenged a 23-point loss to CR (7-1 North, 13-1 overall) early in the year.

Sydney Pedersen added 11 points for the Vikings, who outscored CR, 18-14, in the fourth quarter to close out the win.

Brionna Brooks sank four threes and tallied a team-high 16 points for the Riders with Alexis Reid adding 10.

Sussex Tech 52, Sussex Central 42: The Ravens built a 16-point advantage after three quarters before holding on for the North victory.

Janiya Stevens netted 11 points for Sussex Tech.

Baleigh Lambert scored a team-high 12 points for Central.

Boys’ basketball

Dover 60, Polytech 46: The Senators outscored the Panthers, 32-22, in the second half to pull away to the Henlopen North victory.

St. Thomas More 74, Penn Wood, Pa. 70: Greg Bloodsworth netted 23 points as the Ravens (11-3) won their eighth game in a row.

Three other players also scored in double figures for St. Thomas More, including Eric Montanez (17), Alvin West (13) and Corey Gordon (11).

Lake Forest 53, Seaford 40: With the Henlopen South contest tied at halftime, the Spartans outscored the Blue Jays, 38-25, in the second half.

Jaysem Vazquez scored 11 points with Isaiah Morris adding 10 for Lake Forest.

Seaford’s Andrez Jones sank four three-pointers and tallied a game-high 21 points.

Sussex Central 67, Sussex Tech 63: Three players finished in double figures as the Golden Knights notched their third-straight victory.

Ryhlee Matthews (16 points), Ethan Lambert (14) and Devon Reynolds (13) led Central (4-8 overall).

Ricky Kane had a game-high 20 points for the Ravens.

Laurel 73, Sussex Academy 45: Deontae Johnson netted 19 points, hitting five three-pointers, to pace the Bulldogs to the Henlopen South win.

Brandon Faulk (14), Joe’l Hitchens (12) and Kevon Williams (10) also scored in double figures with Yolnex Gustin adding eight steals.

The Seahawks got 16 points from Zachary Zalewski and 12 from William Davis.

Woodbridge 64, Milford 50: In a game played Thursday, the Raiders built a 19-point halftime advantage before picking up the South victory.

Cornell Corbin tallied 23 points with Hassan Corbin scoring 20 for Woodbridge.

Milford sank nine three-pointers in the contest, getting 16 points from Tymire Riddick, 15 from Brion Murray and 10 from Christopher Sampson.

College basketball

WOMEN, Delaware 68, William & Mary 54: The Blue Hens had four players score in double figures in stretching their winning streak to four games in a row.

Senior Erika Brown led all scorers with 18 points while freshman Abby Gonzales tied a season-high with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field to go along with five assists and three steals.

Sophomore Nicole Enabosi (10 points, 12 rebounds) recorded her sixth straight double-double while junior Makeda Nicholas added 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots.

An early 14-0 run for the Blue Hens 5-3 CAA, 11-8 overall) put them ahead to stay.

Brown moved into 11th place in school history with 1,241 career points. The Hens have won eight straight over the Tribe in Williamsburg.

College softball

DSU favored to win division: Delaware State has been picked to win its fourth Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Northern Division softball title in a row.

The Hornets captured 18 of 25 first-place votes and 163 points in the North preseason poll.

Delaware State posted a 16-2 record to notch its third straight MEAC North crown and was 30-18 overall during the 2016 season. The Hornets advanced to the MEAC Tournament semifinals before falling to runner-up Bethune-Cookman last season.

DSU also placed pitcher Tara Tursellino, second baseman Danielle Valez and utility player Vanessa Washington on the preseason All-MEAC first team.

Delaware State begins the season at the University of South Carolina-Upstate Tournament, Feb. 24-25 in Spartanburg, S.C.

College lacrosse

UD’s DeLargy earns CAA honor: Delaware midfielder Steve DeLargy was selected to the CAA Preseason all-conference team.

A senior midfielder, he was one of 19 players named to the first and honorable mention teams. DeLargy is UD’s active career scoring leader with 49 goals to go with 26 assists and 63 groundballs.

The Blue Hens host Bucknell in their season opener on Feb. 4.

Two-time defending champion Towson was predicted to win the conference title with five first-place votes and was followed in order by Fairfield, Hofstra, Drexel, Delaware, and Massachusetts.
