Roundup: Unbeaten Raiders win 17th straight with 35-0 victory over Laurel

Woodbridge High remained unbeaten this season with a 35-0 victory over Laurel High in the Henlopen Conference Southern Division opener for both teams.

The Blue Raiders also extended their winning streak to 17 games — the highest current streak in the state.

Caravel 36, Lake Forest 15: Shyron Salandy rushed for a pair of touchdowns but the Spartans fell in a nonconference contest.

Sussex Central 42, Dover 7: The Golden Knights emerged victorious in the first Henlopen North game for both teams.

Sussex Central remained undefeated at 4-0 while the Senators dropped to 1-3.

Delmar 41, Indian River 6: The Wildcats picked up the Henlopen South win and improved to 3-1.

College field hockey

Delaware 4, Drexel 0: The Blue Hens saw goals from four different players as No. 8 Delaware opened Colonial Athletic Association play with a victory over Drexel.

Freshman Lotte de Koning led off the attack in the eighth minute with a goal off of a penalty corner before junior Lisa Giezeman gave the Hens the 2-0 advantage just seven minutes later.

Sophomore Ally Pollak assisted on the Giezeman goal.

In the 26th minute, sophomore Michelle Thomas put Delaware ahead, 3-0, with an assist coming from senior Lauren Crudele.

Senior Taylor Lister put the finishing touches on in the 40th minute with her third goal of the season as UD improved to 7-3 on the year in 1-0 in the CAA.

Senior Emmeline Oltmans and redshirt junior Sydney Rhodes split time in the cage and tallied one save in 35 minutes of action apiece.

Erin Gilchrist registered nine saves for the Dragons (4-7, 0-1 CAA).

College volleyball

Northeastern 3, Delaware 0: The Hens fell in straight sets in their home opener 25-19, 25-21, 25-20.

The Blue Hens, playing their first match at home following 12 straight contests outside of Newark, fell to 3-10 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

UD sophomore outside hitter Maria Bellinger led Delaware with 10 kills on the night, while Brooke Robertson added nine kills and six digs. Courtnie Roberts handed out 16 assists, while Maddie Judge made a team-best 12 digs.

Frostburg State 3, Wesley 1: The Wolverines were downed in four sets (17-25, 25-20, 16-25, 15-25) by the Frostburg St. Bobcats in both team’s Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) opener on Friday.

Lindsay Burg notched a double-double, dishing out 15 assists and digging out 10 attacks. Teaghen Vogelsang was two digs away from double-double, collecting 12 assists with eight digs.

Caelli Clifford paced the defense with a match-high 26 digs. Tionne Graves-Brown dug out 19 attacks and added five kills, three service aces and three blocks.

Codi Ziolkowski led the Wolverine offense with 11 kills. Courtney Olson tallied five kills while Nadia Hopkins rejected five Bobcat attacks. Regan Healey added seven digs for the Wolverines.

Madelyn Torres had 36 assists, 14 digs, five kills and four service aces for the Wolverines.
