Smyrna-Clayton downed MOT, 10-5, on Thursday evening to reach the District I tournament finals in Junior League baseball.
Smyrna-Clayton (2-0) will host the title game on Saturday at 7 p.m. when it faces the winner of Friday’s matchup between Camden-Wyoming and MOT.
Pitcher Jacob Hall earned the win for Smyrna-Clayton, surrendering only two hits and one earned run over five innings. He struck out six and walked three.
Cameron Miller tossed one scoreless inning of relief.
Mason Davis had two hits and three RBI for Smyrna-Clayton while Coleman Yates and Hall also had two hits apiece.
Christopher Lloyd led MOT with two RBI.
Smyrna-Clayton 8, Camden Wyoming 3: Smyrna-Clayton won its tourney opener on Wednesday as pitcher Carter Smith took the victory.
Smith allowed only one hit over two and two-thirds shutout innings, striking out three and walking one. Tanner Harris and Jacob Hall each collected two hits for Smyrna-Clayton with Cameron Miller adding two RBI.
Smith had three of Smyrna-Clayton’s eight stolen bases.
Senior League
Camden-Wyoming 10, Dover 5: Camden-Wyoming topped Dover in the District I Senior League baseball tournament on Wednesday evening.
Kurt Helsdon led C-W, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI while Caleb Cole had two RBI.
Helsdon also took the win for C-W after going 6.1 innings, surrendering two earned runs on five hits while striking out seven and walking three. James Suhrbier got the last two outs to earn a save.
Malyki Holtzman paced Dover with two hits, including a double, and two RBI. William Burgos also had a double for Dover.
Milford 21, Felton-Harrington 6: Milford evened its record at 1-1 in the tourney with the win on Thursday.
Milford offense was paced by Avery Richard and Manny Mendoza both had three hits and multiple RBI while Connor Hudson scored four runs.
MOT 11, Milford 10: The Middletown-area squad rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the victory on Wednesday night.
Milford opened up a 10-4 by scoring nine runs in the second including three on a Connor Hudson double.
Noah Wegman singled in the seventh for MOT while William Taylor pitched five shutout innings in relief. Mikael Lentz (4 RBI), Wegman and Taylor all had two hits.
Pat Knight Tournament
MOT-Blue 8, MOT-Red 1: MOT-Blue forced a second game for the tournament title with the win on Wednesday.
With the contest tied 1-1 in the third inning, Maddox Day and Chris Belcher both hit run-scoring doubles for MOT-Blue. MOT Blue added two-run double from Cole Brown in the fourth.
MOT-Blue scored a run in the top of the first when Tyler D’Erasmo tripled to drive in Kaden Deshong.
MOT-Red answered in the bottom of the inning when EJ Trczynski scored. Ryan Creek, Shawn Pinand and Zach Phares each had hits for MOT-Red.
MOT-Blue pitchers Reece Dills and Ryan Mazurek allowed only three hits while MOT Red’s Liam Bucynski and Tucker Lloyd combined to strike out five while walking only two.
