The Delaware baseball team posted its sixth win of the week with a 19-6 victory over Wagner on Sunday afternoon.

It was also the 700th career win in coach Jim Sherman’s career, which includes seven seasons at Wilmington University.

Sunday’s game marked the fifth consecutive contest that the Blue Hens (8-6) scored at least 15 runs, a new program record.

In the six games that Delaware played this week, the Hens batted .406, scoring 95 runs (15.83/game) on 88 hits. UD socked 12 home runs, hit 19 doubles and six triples. For the week, the Hens also picked up 58 walks and an on-base percentage of .547.

In the final game of the series, the Hens produced eight first-inning runs including a three-run home run by centerfielder Kevin Mohollen.

Delaware started the day with a 15-7 win over Wagner in the continuation of Friday’s suspended game. The game was halted in the bottom of the eighth inning with thee Hens leading 10-4 due to darkness and inclement weather.

Delaware banged out 15 hits, including seven for extra bases. Calvin Scott led the Hens with four runs batted in.

Wesley takes split: Powered by a five-run first inning, Wesley pulled out an 11-7 victory over Frostburg State on Sunday.

The Bobcats then won the second half of the Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader, 5-4, in 13 innings.

Trey Mears and Mike Calvarese each tallied three hits in the opnere. Calvarese notched four RBI while Mears scored three times and knocked in two runs.

Cody Dmiterchik, Mears, Chris Seibert and Michael Piccirillo each had two hits in the second game for the Wolverines (2-1 CAC, 9-3 overall).

College track & field

Wolverines honored: Wesley College’s Roland Attoh-Okine and the women’s 1,600-meter relay team captured All-American status on the final day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at North Central College on Saturday.

Attoh-Okine repeated as an All-American in the 60-meter hurdles, placing fifth overall in the event with a time of 8.18 seconds.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Elizsha Streeter, Angel Hall, Briana Artis and Quadira Minus also became two-time indoor All-Americans with a fourth-place finish in the relay with a time of 3:51.72.

Jasmine Brown tied for 13th place in the high jump with a mark of 1.65 meters (5-5).
