Caesar Rodney High rallied in the fourth quarter to post a 70-61 victory over Hodgson in nonconference girls’ basketball on Tuesday night.

The Riders (2-0) outscored the Silver Eagles, 16-6, in the final period after trailing by a point in the back-and-forth contest. CR led by five at halftime.

Alissa Haith (16 points), Alexis Reid (15) and Brionna Brooks (14) all led the way for CR, Brooks and Reid each sank four of the Riders’ nine three-pointers in the game.

Cape Henlopen 50, Polytech 32: Dania Cannon and Abigail E’Nama netted 11 points apiece as the Vikings opened their season with a Henlopen North win.

Tamia Mathias scored 13 points to lead the Panthers.

Milford 55, Delmar 32: Milford opened up a 17-point lead on its way to the Henlopen South victory.

Jameshia Baker netted a game-high 17 points for the Buccaneers. Kiarra Brittingham (15) and Rajene Bowe (10) also scored in double figires.

Four of the Wildcats’ 10 field goals were three-pointers. Shaniya Briddell had a team-high nine points.

Sussex Central 46, Dover 43: The Golden Knights outscored the Senators, 20-9, in the fourth quarter to rally for the North victory.

Raeonna Stratton led Central with 15 points, including four three-pointers. Azayah Garrison added 12 points for the Knights.

Brionna Hill scored a game-high 18 points for Dover, which led 34-26 going into the fourth quarter.

Sussex Tech 59, Smyrna 35: Three players scored in double figures to pace the Ravens to the North win.

Janiya Stevens (15 points), Rukiya Davis (13) and Kara Hignutt (11) led Sussex Tech, which outscored the Eagles, 35-19, in the second half.

Smyrna was led by Melena Credle (12 points) and Jayla Smith (10).

Laurel 38, Lake Forest 29: The Bulldogs picked up a Henlopen South win over the Spartans.

Appoquinimink 59, Woodbridge 32: The Jaguars opened up a 32-12 halftime lead en route to the nonconference win.

Boys’ basketball

Dover 80, Sussex Central 51: The Senators (1-1) outscored the Golden Knights, 30-5, in the fourth quarter to cap off their first Henlopen North victory of the season.

Indian River 61, Seaford 50: The Indians gradually pulled away in the second half of their South victory.

Jamier Felton (16 points), K.J. Custis (15), Isaiah Bratton (15) and Antonio Jones (10) all scored in double figures for IR.

Andrez Jones had 13 points to pace the Blue Jays with Nathan Barrett adding 11.

Cape Henlopen 66, Polytech 58: After being limited to just five second-quarter points, the Vikings outscored the Panthers, 23-20, in the fourth quarter to put away the Henlopen North victory.

Milford 55, Delmar 26: The Buccaneers started the game on a 20-6 run before earning the South win.

Laurel 47, Lake Forest 46: The Bulldogs edged the Spartans in a Henlopen South matchup.

College football

Six Wolverines make all-region: The Wesley College football team had six players honored on the D3football.com All-Region team, led by senior running back Jamar Baynard, who earned first-team honors.

Offensive tackle Matt Gono and wide receiver Bryce Shade each were named to the All-Region second team while center Austin Eagle was named to the third team. On defense, both defensive end Isaiah Ingram and defensive back Andre Connally were named third-team all-region.

Baynard led the New Jersey Athletic Conference in rushing touchdowns with 17 this season. His 1,251 rushing yards ranked second in the conference as well. The Middletown High broke Wesley’s all-time career rushing touchdowns record, finishing his career with 48.

This is the 11th consecutive season that the Wolverines have placed at least four players on the D3football.com All-Region team.

College soccer

Thee UD players make all-region: The University of Delaware had three players named NSCAA NCAA Division I All-Midwest Region honorees: Guillermo Delgado, Thomas de Villardi and Ben Sampson.

Delgado garnered first-team all-region accolades for the fourth straight season, becoming the first UD player to accomplish the feat. The CAA Player of the Year, Delgado is the nation’s active career leader in points (117) and goals (49) and is currently seventh nationally with 1.68 points per game and 14th with 12 goals.

College field hockey

UD to honor national champs: The University of Delaware will honor the national champion Blue Hens field hockey team on Friday, December 9 with an event at the Carpenter Center.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. with the event beginning at 5 p.m.
