Mira Prisco’s goal with 12:51 remaining in the game lifted Dover High to a 3-2 victory over Lake Forest in Henlopen Conference field hockey on Tuesday night.

The contest had been tied 2-2 since halftime.

The Senators took a 2-0 first-half lead when Kristen Adkins and Sydni Warman scored goals less than two minutes apart.

But the Spartans answered with goals from Karinne Moyer and Kaitlyn Stahre. Stahre’s goal tied the contest with no time remaining in the first half.

Akins assisted on Prisco’s game-winner while goalie Madison Francois made 11 saves. Dover (1-1) finished with advantages of 24-13 in shots and 8-5 in corners.

Lake’s Brooke Tucker stopped 21 shots.

Polytech 9, Seaford 0: Madison Knight’s three goals and an assist paced the Panthers (3-0) to their third straight win.

Camryn Dennis had two goals while Madie McKay (2 assists), Shannon Stephan, Lacy Bayley (1 assist) and Devon Ott (1 assist) all had one. Polytech led 5-0 at halftime.

Seaford goalie Yeliz Kurt stopped 36 shots.

Cape Henlopen 4, Smyrna 0: Annie Judge tallied a goal in each half as the defending state champion Vikings opened their season with a shutout win.

Alia Marshall (1 assist) and Chloe Schaeffer scored Cape’s other goals with Lori Ferguson making two saves. The Vikings outshot the Eagles 21-3 and held a 16-1 edge in corners.

Elana Montejo made 17 saves for the Eagles.

Indian River 2, Sussex Tech 1: The Indians scored twice in the first half before holding off the Ravens for the conference win.

It was the second straight year that IR beat Tech by a goal in its season opener.

Delmar 11, Caesar Rodney 0: Caitlin Wink collected three goals and an assist as the Wildcats (3-0) won their Henlopen opener.

Ashlyn Carr scored twice with Logan Walls, Hailey Bitters, Anna Webster, Peyton Kemp, Marley Ruark and Jordan Moore adding the Wildcats’ other goals.

The Riders’ Lauren Caulk made 29 saves.

Sussex Central 3, Laurel 1: The Golden Knights outscored the Bulldogs, 2-1, in the second half to capture the win.

Milford 8, Woodbridge 0: Megan Fry and Rajene Bowe (2 assists) netted three goals apiece to lead the Buccaneers (2-0).

Daphne Leighty added Milford’s other two goals as the Bucs outshot Woodbridge, 19-0.

Boys’ soccer

Indian River 3, Caesar Rodney 1: Oscar Cruz-Osorio and McClain Smith scored goals six minutes apart in the second half to give the Indians a 3-0 lead.

Mikie Mochiam scored in the first half for IR, which had lost its last two regular-season meetings with the Riders. The Indians also got three assists from Johan de jesus Cordoba and four saves from Kevin Calles-Zamora.

Nathan Reid made four saves for CR. IR outshot the Riders, 14-5, and had a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.

Lake Forest 8, St. Thomas More 2: Kurt Moyer tallied three of the Spartans’ first four goals as Lake opened the season with a win.

Parker Sard also netted three goals for the Spartans, who led 5-1 at halftime. Tyler Mitchell and Cameron Beulah also scored for Lake..

Eric O’Neill scored a first-half goal for the Ravens.

Milford 1, Sussex Tech 0: Lensky Legros’ goal in the 69th minute gave the Buccaneers the victory.

Alexis Torres-Fragoso assisted on the goal for Milford, which held edges of 12-5 in shots and 7-3 in corner kicks.

Polytech 5, Sussex Academy 0: The Panthers netted three second-half goals in picking up the victory.

Cape Henlopen 5, Seaford 1: Zach Gelof netted the Vikings’ first two goals as Cape led 4-0 at halftime en route to the victory.

Cape’s other goals came from Maxwell Varela, Aidan Spoor and Arlleneiri Rodriguez-Garcia with Brent Hochrein making four saves. The Vikings held advantages of 18-5 in shots and 11-3 in corner kicks.

Antonio Ambrosino scored the Blue Jays’ goals with Evan Niblett making 13 saves.

Laurel 2, Smyrna 0: Daniel Chilel and Santos Rodas scored second-half goals to lead the Bulldogs.

Jailon Gillespie made six saves to post the shutout for Laurel which finished with advantages of 14-6 in shots and 3-1 in corner kicks.

Sussex Central 5, Woodbridge 0: Dalendy Dupervil (1 assist) scored three first-half goals to spark the Golden Knights.

Robin Ramirez-Chavez and Johnny Garcia also scored for Central, which outshot the Raiders 19-4.

College soccer

CR grad Cummings honored: After helping the Wolverines to a 1-1 week, Wesley College freshman Aleya Cummings was named Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference South Region Rookie of the Week in women’s soccer on Tuesday.

The Caesar Rodney High grad scored a late equalizer in the Wolverines’ game against Neumann to force overtime. Cummings then followed with a hat trick in a win over Immaculata.

Cummings has netted eight goals in the Wolverines’ first four games of the season, including two hat tricks.

College field hockey

Hens drop to No. 12: Delaware dropped two spots to No. 12 in this week’s Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll following a 1-1 weekend.

The Blue Hens (4-2) opened the weekend with a 5-2 victory at Temple Friday before dropping a 4-2 contest at then-No. 16 Princeton on Sunday. The Tigers jumped six spots to No. 10 in this week’s poll.

College golf

Wolverines take sixth in tourney: The Wesley College golf team opened its fall season by taking sixth out of 13 teams in the Moravian College (Pa.) Fall Invitational on Monday afternoon.

Dylan Chessher (Caesar Rodney) led the Wolverines with a 78 to finish tied for 12th, six strokes behind the winner. He finished his round with a 36 on the back nine, shooting an even par over his final nine holes.

Wesley’s Sean Creel carded an 82 to finish tied with Matt Maskell and several others in 23rd place. Ricky Mulloy shot an 83 to finish one stroke behind Creel and Maskell while Tyler Speilberger rounded out the Wolverines’ top five with an 88.
