Galindy Prezeau netted the first three goals of the game to pace Caesar Rodney High to a 5-1 victory over Polytech in Henlopen Conference Northern Division boys’ soccer on Tuesday night.

Christopher McPoyle (2 assists) scored two second-half goals for the Riders (10-3), who finish 4-2 in the North. Nathan Reid and Dillon Rahe combined for six saves for CR, which outshot the Panthers, 18-8.

Polytech’s Marco Maddalena scored in the first half and goalie Noah Lust made 11 saves.

Cape Henlopen 8, Dover 2: Jack Ashby scored three first-half goals as the Vikings (5-1 North, 14-1 overall) clinched the Henlopen North title.

Drew Mulcahy (2 goals, 2 assists), Steven Matalavage (1 goal, 2 assists), Zachary Gelof (1 goal, 1 assist) and Ulysis Slagle (1 goal) also led Cape, which outshot the Senators, 24-8.

Chris Valenti and Emerson Escalante-Diaz scored Dover’s goals with Sean Quirk making 16 saves.

Sussex Tech 6, Smyrna 0: Marlon Trejo and Carter Burris scored two goals apiece for the Ravens in their North win.

Bryant Vazquez-Castillo and Kyle Lux also scored goals for Sussex Tech, which finished with advantages of 13-3 in shots and 7-0 in corner kicks.

Abdul Musa stopped 10 shots for the Eagles.

Milford 3, Delmar 2: Davidson Marcellus’ overtime goal gave the Buccaneers the South victory.

Derrick Bogan and Darkenson Barrette scored second-half goals for Milford, which outshot the Wildcats, 18-2.

Jamel Allen scored both Delmar goals, tying the contest in the 80th minute.

Lake Forest 7, Howard 0: The Spartans netted five second-half goals in posting the victory.

Indian River 5, Woodbridge 2: The Indians tallied four straight goals to break a 1-1 tie in their Henlopen South win.

Oscar Cruz-Osorio, Mikie Mochiam, Andrew White, McClain Smith and Johan de jesus Cordoba all scored goals for IR, which outshot the Raiders, 26-6.

Wilian Velasquez-Santizo netted both Raider goals while Leslie Hayes made 11 saves.

Seaford 3, Laurel 2: The Blue Jays led 2-0 at halftime before posting the South win.

Sussex Central 6, Worcester Prep, Md. 2: The Golden Knights tallied four goals in the second half of their nonconference win.

Sanford 5, St. Thomas More 1: Sean O’Neill netted a second-half goal for the Ravens in their loss.

The Warriors held advantages of 12-6 in shots and 11-3 in corner kicks as St. Thomas More goalie Alec Wills made seven saves.

Field hockey

Lake Forest 2, Indian River 1: Jocelyn Hughes’ goal with just 2:21 remaining lifted the Spartans to their fourth straight win.

Zara Collison tied the game on a penalty stroke with 16:33 left while Allison Bishop made three saves. Both teams took six shots while Lake held a 6-5 edge in corners.

Madison McGee tallied a first-half goal for IR while Madison Thune and Emma Engel had two saves each.

Dover 1, Sussex Tech 0: Kristen Adkins’ goal at the 13:32 mark of overtime gave the Senators the conference victory.

Rachel Mills assisted on the game-winner with goalie Brooklyn Peete making nine saves. The Ravens outshot the Senators, 12-8, and held a 6-5 edge in corners.

Sussex Tech goalie Macey Mitchell made seven saves.

Polytech 4, Caesar Rodney 0: Four different players scored goals as the Panthers blanked the Riders.

Maddie McKay (1 assist), Allie McKay (1 assist), Taylor Johnson and Jamie Trabaudo all scored goals for Polytech, which finished with advantages of 14-2 in shots and 12-2 in corners.

CR goalie Lauren Caulk made eight saves.

Cape Henlopen 3, Milford 0: Catherine Frederick and Tess Bernheimer had a goal and assist each in the Vikings’ conference win.

Erin Coverdale also scored for Cape, which got four saves from Riley Shields. Cape finished with advantages of 25-5 in shots and 12-2 in corners.

Milford’s Leah Barnett made 17 saves.

Delmar 7, Seaford 0: Eighth-grader Logan Walls tallied three goals, including two in the second half, as the undefeated Wildcats pulled away to the Henlopen Conference win.

Ashlyn Carr, Ashley Arter, Peyton Kemp and Mya Kemp also scored goals for Delmar, which finished with advantages of 49-0 in shots and 28-0 in corners.

Seaford goalie Yeliz Kurt made 28 saves.

Padua 8, St. Thomas More 1: Sarah Hayes made 14 saves while Therese Sadusky scored a goal for the Ravens in the loss.

Polytech 3, Caesar Rodney 2: The two teams alternated wins before the Panthers notched the North win.

Polytech won by scores of 26-24, 24-26, 25-21, 23-25, 15-8.

The Panthers were led by Kaylee Williams (18 kills), Emily Campbell (12 kills, 10 aces, 14 digs), Kathryn Kozel (6 kills, 8 digs) and Morgan Teszner (32 assists).

Smyrna 3, Sussex Tech 0: The Eagles downed the Ravens, 25-16, 25-18, 25-8, to finish 6-0 in the North.

Smyrna (12-2) has won 10 straight matches.

Cape Henlopen 3, Dover 0: The Vikings registered the Henlopen North wins by scores of 25-21, 25-10, 25-16.

Alison Palmer had nine kills and three aces while Logan Shuttleworth had three aces and 23 assists for Cape (12-2), which finished 5-1 in the North.

Indian River 3, Woodbridge 0: The Indians registered the South win by scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-14.

Kaya Ziskay (9 kills, 3 aces), Samantha Mumford (5 kills, 7 aces) and Kayla McCarra (5 aces, 15 assists) paced IR.

Delmar 3, Milford 0: The Wildcats downed the Buccaneers 25-22, 25-18, 25-14 in a Henlopen South match.

Genesis Chamberlayne and Amber Davis has four kills each for Milford with Madison Rogers adding eight digs and six assists.

Delmarva Christian 3, Sussex Central 0: The Royals earned a 25-18, 25-14, 25-9 victory.

Angela Baker (3 aces) and Gabrielle Book had six kills apiece for Delmarva Christian, Allie Zitvogel had 17 digs and Olivia Berger added 20 assists.

Howard 3, Seaford 0: The Wildcats picked up the nonconference victory over the Blue Jays.

College field hockey

Hens move up to No. 14: Following a 2-0 weekend, Delaware moved up a spot to No. 14 in Tuesday’s Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll.

The Blue Hens (13-4) defeated Towson, 9-0, Friday before picking up a 2-1 victory over then-No. 12 Old Dominion on Sunday. The Hens have been ranked in the NFHCA Top 20 each week since Sept. 8 and have reached as high as No. 12. Delaware is ranked No. 15 in this week’s NCAA Field Hockey RPI.

College basketball

UD men, women picked fifth in CAA: Both the Delaware men’s and women’s basketball teams were picked fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association Preseason polls announced at the league’s Basketball Media Day on Tuesday at The Center Club.

Individually, Blue Hens’ men’s sophomore guard Kory Holden was a second-team all-CAA selection while women’s junior Erika Brown and senior Courtni Green were picked as preseason All-CAA second-team and honorable mention selections, respectively.

On the men’s side, Hofstra was selected to win the conference title according to a vote of the conference’s head coaches, media relations directors, and media members. James Madison was picked second in the poll, followed by Northeastern, William & Mary and Delaware.

In the women’s poll, James Madison, the defending CAA champion, was selected to repeat in 2016 according to a vote of the league’s head coaches. Behind the Dukes were Drexel and Hofstra while Elon was picked fourth.
