Samantha Stafford tallied a first-half goal for Polytech with Alyssa-Lynn Brown making seven saves.
Sussex Tech tied the contest on a goal from Kira Short in the 54th minute while Valencia Whealton made eight saves. The Ravens finished with advantages of 10-9 in shots and 3-2 in corner kicks.
Caesar Rodney 9, Dover 0: Megan Rigsby (3 assists) and Jessie Prillaman (2 assists) netted three goals each as the Riders posted the Henlopen North win.
Macy Ramsey (1 assist) added two goals with Megan Powers (1 assist) scoring the other for CR, which led 9-0 at halftime.
Brittney Rosello made 10 saves for the Senators. CR outshot Dover, 23-8, and held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Milford 1, Woodbridge 0: Silvaro Santiago’s second-half goal gave the Buccaneers the Henlopen South victory.
Hailey Morgan made 10 saves for Milford, which outshot the Raiders, 15-7.
The Raiders’ Alyssa Burhop made seven saves.
Smyrna 3, Sussex Central 0: Casey Bell had two goals and an assist in the Eagles’ Henlopen North victory.
Marissa McClenton scored Smyrna’s other goal with Cassidy Cook making four saves.
Indian River 9, Laurel 0: Madison Hogsten (3 assists) scored three goals, including the 100th of her career, to pace the Indians.
Six players scored for IR, which outshot the Bulldogs, 17-3.
TyAnna Handy made seven saves for the Bulldogs.
Delmar 4, Lake Forest 3: The Wildcats netted four-second half goals to pick up the Henlopen South win.
Sussex Academy 6, Seaford 1: Angeliki Rigakos tallied four goals as the Seahawks earned their first Henlopen South win.
Alexandra Roblero Gonzalez scored twice with Kierstin Blatzheim making three saves for Sussex Academy.
Yeliz Kurt scored for Seaford while Bethany Rankin made 11 saves.
Padua 5, Cape Henlopen 0: Freshman goalie Lucy Siranides made 26 saves, limiting the Pandas to only one goal in the first half, in the Vikings’ loss.
Padua finished with advantages of 31-1 in shots and 7-0 in corner kicks.
Softball
Smyrna 17, Polytech 1: Lexi Moore and Madison Drummond had three hits apiece as the Eagles totalled 14 hits in the Henlopen Conference win.
Jessica Andrews threw a five-inning three-hitter with nine strikeouts to earn the win for Smyrna, which scored seven runs in the fourth.
Natasha Powell drove in the lone run for the Panthers.
Delmar 10, Caesar Rodney 0: Haley Rogers went 4-for-4 with a pair of triples and three RBI to pace the Wildcats’ 13-hit attack.
Tracy Pleasanton pitched a five-inning five-hitter to earn the shutout with Sydney Tyndall hitting a homerun.
CR’s Alexxys Harris and Carissa Thorne had two hits each.
Sussex Central 6, Dover 1: The Golden Knights stretched their winning streak to 11 in a row as Hayley McCabe pitched a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Ante Carter had a pair of hits for the Senators.
Sussex Tech 21, Cape Henlopen 11: The Ravens’ Jaykayla Sample went 4-for-5, including a grand slam, with seven RBI.
Brooke Ward (4 RBI) also had four hits while Rylee Shockley homered for Sussex Tech.
Kelsey Huling had four hits for the Vikings while Jordyn Virden and Sara Lallier both homered. The game featured 31 hits.
Milford 7, Padua 4: The Buccaneers rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh to knock off the Pandas.
Genesis Chamberlayne and Megan Fry both homered while Darby Brennen, Morgan Petty, Chamberlayne and Julia Reed all multiple hits.
Delmarva Christian 16, Holly Grove Christian 5: Siera Jones and Camryn Thompson had three hits and three RBI each to lead the Royals.
Also for Delmarva Christian, Allie Zitvogel had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
Baseball
Cape Henlopen 10, Sussex Tech 0: David Erickson pitched a five-inning five-hitter to earn the shutout for the Vikings.
Zach Dale hit a two-run homerun in the first inning before Will Geppart ended the contest by driving in the final two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Luke Oliphant had two of the Ravens’ hits.
Lake Forest 11, St. Thomas More 2: Logan Reed collected three hits and three RBI as the Spartans earned their first win of the season.
Nathan McGray (3 RBI), Seth Parker and Tyler Chalmers all had two hits with Hunter Fleetwood earning the win.
Chris Robinson and Da’Markus Lee each had two hits for the Ravens.
Indian River 9, Woodbridge 1: Ulises Barrientos gave up only three hits in five innings to earn the win.
Matt Smith had four of the Indians’ 13 hits and drove in three runs.
The Raiders R.J. Thomas had a pair of hits.
Delmar 6, Caesar Rodney 2: The Wildcats were trailing 2-1 when Gabe Rincon’s three-run homer sparked a four-run fifth.
Isaac Austin added a solo homer in the sixth while Chris Richardson and Jordan Haddaway combined to throw a five-hitter.
Delmarva Christian 9, Holly Grove Christian 1: Wes Hobbs hit a grand slam to spark the Royals to their fifth straight win.
Winning pitcher Brandon Schlabach struck out five while Andrew Workman added three hits.
Lacrosse
Boys, Polytech 11, Sussex Tech 7: Josh Davis and Jake Davis each had four goals and a pair of assists to pace the Panthers to the Henlopen North win on Wednesday night.
Polytech, which led 10-4 after three goals, also got two goals from Chris Rutkoski and one from Zach Maheu (1 assist), Noah Lust made 15 saves as the Panthers outshot the Ravens, 34-30.
Nate Quillen had four goals for Sussex Tech, Daniel Wilson had two and Edwin Lange scored one. Hunter Severs made 16 saves.
GIRLS, Indian River 11, Sussex Tech 10: Lexi Haden netted seven goals as the Indians edged the Ravens in a Henlopen Conference matchup.
Lexi Webb, Helen Davis (3 assists), Kaylee Hall (1 assist) and Delaney Brannon also scored goals for IR with Mya Parks making 11 saves.
Aleksandra Bada had four goals for Sussex Tech with Kathryn Giles scoring three.
College softball
Wesley’s Royer honored: Wesley College sophomore infielder Ashley Royer was selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District first team.
A Law and Justice Studies major at Wesley, Royer carries a 3.83 grade-point average. She earned second-team All-Capital Athletic Conference accolades this year and ranked fourth in the CAC in runs batted in (40), tied for eighth in home runs (4) and tied for ninth in doubles (10). Royer batted .495.
