Milford downed Camden-Wyoming, 14-4, on Wednesday night to reach the District I championship game in Major League baseball.

Milford will take on M.O.T. today at 7:30 p.m. at Camden-Wyoming in the finals. Milford needs a win to force a second game for the title on Friday night.

M.O.T. has won eight of the last nine District I championships, including four in a row. The District I champion earns a berth in the state tournament, which begins on July 21 at Newark National.

In Wednesday’s win, Milford’s Mason Morris went 4-for-4, Mitch Leighty had three hits, including a homerun, and Layne Smith went 3-for-3 with a triple.

Andrew Rigby hit a three-run homer for Camden-Wyoming.

M.O.T. 7, Milford 6: In a game played Tuesday night, Middletown rallied for the victory. M.O.T. is 3-0 in the tournament.

9-10 tournament

M.O.T. 19, Felton 8: Middletown improved to 3-0 and reached the District I finals with the victory on Tuesday night.

Jackson Dorsey (4 RBI, 2 runs), Shaun McDonald (2 RBI, 2 runs) and Zach Pompeo (3 RBI) all went 3-for-4 for M.O.T. while Warrenn Bryan had two hits, two runs and an RBI.

Big League

Felton-Harrington leads regional roster: Regular-season champion Felton-Harrington has nine players on the 18-player District I roster for this weekend’s Big League baseball regional being played at Dover Little League.

Kent County’s District I is the defending champion in the tournament, which begins on Saturday.

Felton-Harrington’s L.B, Stubbs is the District I manager. The members of the District I squad include, from Felton-Harrington: Chase Bayley, Cody Cole, Cole Gary, Dillon Cole, Eric Berardicelli, Jordon Simpson, Louis Whitaker, Tommy Jordon and Tyler Collins; from Camden-Wyoming: Carlton Voak, Noah DeAtley and Quinton Ivy; from Dover: Cameron Turner, Dallas Willey, Jared Hickox and Semaj Kelly; and from Smyrna-Clayton: Brendon Davis and John Barkley.

Softball

9-10 tournament

Camden-Wyoming 7, Felton-Harrington 1: Winning pitcher Peyton Shields struck out 12 on Tuesday night as Camden-Wyoming advanced to the District I championship game.

Lauren Dickerson hit a two-run homer for C-W, which is 2-0 in the tournament. Sydney Hatch (2 runs) and Vanessa King had two hits apiece while Alexia Figeroa had one.

Skylar Copio had 11 strikeouts for Felton-Harrington with Carly Revelle and Samantha Carpenter each had a hit.

Senior League

Camden-Wyoming wins opener: Camden-Wyoming won the opener by forfeit in the Senior League state tournament on Tuesday night when District II was unable to field a team.

The New Castle County squad is expected to have a team able to play today when the two-team tourney is slated to resume with a 7 p.m. game at Red Lion Christian Academy.

The state champion receives a berth in the East Regional, which begins on July 22 at Worcester, Mass.

College athletics

Two Hens earn conditioning award: University of Delaware student-athletes Wes Hills and Chandler Bryant were recently honored as All-American Strength & Conditioning Athletes of the Year by the National Strength & Conditioning Association.

Hills, a rising junior and running back on the Blue Hen football team, and Bryant, a middle hitter for the volleyball team and a 2016 UD graduate, were honored as Delaware’s male and female award recipients and were nominated by Delaware Assistant AD for Strength & Conditioning Ted Perlak.

The NSCA All-American Strength & Conditioning Athlete of the Year program recognizes those collegiate and high school athletes whose athletic accomplishments reflect their dedication to strength & conditioning. These athletes are also recognized for their academic and personal accomplishments and their integrity as student-athletes.

DelState part of MEAC Nike deal: The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, of which Delaware State is a member, has announced that it has entered into a multi-year agreement with NIKE to become the official apparel, accessory and equipment brand of the league until 2020.

The MEAC currently has a conference-wide footwear agreement for its 13 member institutions with NIKE, also until 2020. The MEAC/NIKE apparel, accessory and equipment agreement will begin Sep. 1, 2016.

“We are elated to expand our partnership with Nike, the worldwide leader in athletic footwear, apparel and accessories,” said MEAC Commissioner Dr. Dennis Thomas. “We appreciate NIKE’s over fifteen-year investment with the MEAC and recognizing the value of our brand.”

“Both Nike and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference have a rich, storied history and progressive mindset,” said Kit Morris Senior Director of Sports Marketing. “The continuation of this partnership builds on that legacy to drive the future of student-athletes at these historic institutions.”

The company will also continue to provide summer internships to deserving MEAC student-athletes at the NIKE World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. and provide two graduate scholarships annually for MEAC student-athletes attending graduate school.
