Mya Maddox scored twice, including the game-winning goal in overtime, as Lake Forest High edged Indian River, 2-1, in Henlopen Conference field hockey on Tuesday.

Both teams tallied first-half goals before Maddox decided the contest at the 12:05 mark of OT.

Lake Forest finished with advantages of 12-4 in shots and 9-7 in corners. Goalie Brooke Tucker made one save.

Erin Haden scored for the Indians with Mya Parks stopping nine shots.

Cape Henlopen 2, Milford 1: The Vikings had to go to overtime to stay undefeated in the Henlopen Conference.

Both squads tallied second-half goals.

Polytech 3, Caesar Rodney 0: Madison Knight, Cam Dennis (1 assist) and Devon Ott all scored goals in the Panthers’ conference win.

Polytech, which led 1-0 at halftime, outshot the Riders 22-1 and held a 22-3 edge in corners. Holly Rembold made one save.

Lauren Caulk made 13 saves for CR.

Sussex Tech 3, Dover 1: The Ravens scored twice in the second half in snapping the Senators’ six-game winning streak.

Smyrna 5, Woodbridge 0: Wei Ting Hsieh tallied two goals as the Eagles won their second game in a row.

Cassidy Cook, Alexis Moore (1 assist) and Madeline Wilber (1 assist) also scored for Smyrna, which held advantages of 12-0 in shots and 9-0 in corners.

Woodbridge’s Emily-Lynn Adams made 11 saves.

Delmar 11, Seaford 0: Nancy Harris and Peyton Kemp (1 assist) each scored a pair of goals to pace the Wildcats.

Nine players scored for Delmar, which led 7-0 at halftime. The shutout was the Wildcats’ eighth of the season.

Seaford’s Yeliz Kurt made 29 saves.

Boys’ soccer

Sussex Tech 2, Smyrna 0: Chandler Berger scored in the first half while Joshua Artiga scored in the second in the Ravens’ Henlopen North win.

Goalie Anthony Hitchcock made two saves and added an assist for Sussex Tech, which held edges of 12-3 in shots and 9-1 in corner kicks.

Abdul Musa had eight saves for the Eagles.

Cape Henlopen 3, Dover 2: Zach Gelof’s goal in the 61st minute broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Vikings to the Henlopen North victory.

Richard Carey and Ulysis Slagle (1 assist) scored in the first half for Cape while Alan Marin-Quiroz made seven saves. The Vikings finished with advantages of 30-9 in shots and 11-1 in corner kicks.

Emerson Escalante Diaz scored both Dover goals, tying the contest in the 50th minute. Sean Quirk made 26 saves.

Indian River 6, Woodbridge 0: Johan de jesus Cordoba netted the first two goals for the Indians (12-1), who finished 7-0 in the Henlopen South.

IR’s other goals came from Arturo Mora Salas (1 assist), Mikie Mochiam, Oscar Cruz Osorio and Zachary Neal. Zane Richard made four saves.

Leslie Hayes stopped nine shots for the Raiders.

Sanford 3, St. Thomas More 1: Eric O’Neill netted a first-half goal for the Ravens.

James Lauser made nine saves for St. Thomas More, which was out-shot 13-4.

Laurel 5, Seaford 1: The Bulldogs built a 3-0 halftime lead before registering the Henlopen South victory.

Polytech 3, Caesar Rodney 1: The Panthers won the final two sets to close out the 25-22, 21-25, 28-26. 25-12 Henlopen North win.

Kaylee Williams (15 kills, 3 aces), Emily Campbell (11 kills, 2 aces, 19 digs) and Ashley Blaeuer (1 kill, 1 ace, 25 assists) led Polytech.

Smyrna 3, Sussex Tech 0: The Eagles finished unbeaten in the Henlopen North with the 25-3, 25-7, 25-10 victory.

Smyrna (6-0 North, 12-2) was paced by Kylie McCusker (6 kills, 4 aces, 19 assists), Reece Trabaudo (4 kills, 7 aces, 8 assists) and Morgan Holman (7 aces).

Cape Henlopen 3, Dover 0: The Vikings downed the Senators, 25-13, 25-15, 25-13, in a Henlopen North matchup.

Pacing Cape were Logan Shuttleworth (1 kill, 3 aces, 12 digs, 21 assists), Sophia Spinelli (5 kills, 6 aces) and Taylor Collier (3 kills, 1 ace, 11 digs).

Delmar 3, Milford 0: The Wildcats won the Henlopen South match by scores of 25-9, 25-14, 25-15.

Avery Wheatley (15 kills, 3 aces), Samantha Lehman (1 kill, 4 aces, 17 assists) and Bashia Korten (11 digs) paced Delmar.

Indian River 3, Woodbridge 0: The Indians earned the Henlopen South win by scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-5.

IR was led by McKenzie Johnson (4 kills, 5 aces, 16 assists) and Jessica Amezcua, who had nine aces.

Lake Forest 3, Sussex Academy 0: The Spartans earned the win over the Seahawks.

Delmarva Christian 3, Sussex Central 0: The Royals downed the Golden Knights, 25-21, 25-16, 25-11.

MEN, Salisbury 2, Wesley 1: The Wolverines honored six graduating seniors, but couldn’t hold off the Sea Gulls in their final regular season game.

Will Mileski scored for the Wolverines (3-11-2), his fourth goal of the season and the 24th of his career. Patrick Schlosser tallied an assist while Tanner Yaw made five saves in net.

Maryland 3, Delaware 2, OT: Delaware’s Guillermo Delgado scored two goals, including one that put the Blue Hens ahead briefly in the second half.

But Delaware could not pull out the win and fell to No. 1-ranked Maryland in double overtime Tuesday night.

College field hockey

Hens drop to No. 9: Despite picking up wins over Towson and then-No. 19 American this past weekend, Delaware fell one spot to No. 9 in this week’s Pen Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll.

For the first time in her career, Blue Hen sophomore Lisa Giezeman was named CAA Player of the Week.

The forward had a season-high two goals in Sunday’s 6-1 win at No. 19 American while collecting a goal and an assist in Delaware’s 7-0 victory at Towson Friday evening.

UD men picked last in CAA: After losing its two top players and getting a new coaching staff, the Delaware men’s basketball team was picked to finish last in the 10-team Colonial Athletic Association poll on Tuesday.

The Blue Hens did have sophomore Chivarsky Corbett named a Preseason Honorable Mention selection. UNC-Wilmington was selected to defend its conference title according to a vote of the conference’s head coaches, media relations directors, and media members.

Blue Hen women voted fifth: The Delaware women’s basketball team was predicted to finish tied for fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Poll on Tuesday.

Additionally, Blue Hen senior Erika Brown was named a Preseason All-CAA second-team selection. James Madison, the three-time defending CAA champion, was selected to win it all again according to a vote of the league’s 10 head coaches.

College volleyball

Salisbury 3, Wesley 0: Wesley was limited offensively to a .138 swing percentage while the Sea Gulls hit .370 as a team in the CAC win.

Lindsay Burg dished out 12 assists while Beth Schlecker added eight and five kills. Codi Ziolkowski and Jessica Tynes had five kills apiece while Tionne Graves-Brown led the Wolverines (11-15) with seven.
