Mya Maddox scored twice to lead a four-goal second half as the Lake Forest High field hockey team rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Brandywine 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Kaitlyn Stahre had a goal and a pair of assists for the Spartans. Bailey Dean and Julianna Tyndall also netted goals for Lake Forest.

Football

Delmar 28, Archmere 14: Jimmy Adkins threw for a pair of touchdowns and rushed for another as the Wildcats earned the nonconference victory on the road.

Delmar scored 14 points in both the second and fourth quarters and shut out the Auks in the first half.

College field hockey

Wesley 5, Hendrix 0: The Wolverines earned their fifth win of the year, improving upon last year’s mark to move to 5-12 on the season. Lauren Niezgoda finished with a pair of goals to lead four Wolverine scorers. Kelsey Fromal netted a goal and dished off an assist as well.

Makenzie McIntyre made four saves in the first half to earn the win in net. Sidney Knott and Sydney Stump split time in goal in the second half. Knott played 21:25 without being challenged and Stump turned away the only attempt on goal in her 14 minutes in net.

The Wolverines scored their first goal of the game on a set piece. Lauren Niezgoda inserted a corner to Isabella Lucia at the top of the arc. Lucia ripped the ball back to the near post where Niezgoda deflected it in past the Hendrix goalkeeper, making it 1-0.

Just 2:31 later Allison Perugini added a tally to make it 2-0 before the half. Kelsey Fromal beat a defender in the crease and dished it under the keeper’s pads to Perugini who tapped in for the goal, giving Wesley a two-score cushion.

In the second half, the Wolverine offense continued clicking on all cylinders. Niezgoda scored again on an assist from Emily Wagner, followed by goals from Fromal and Kasey Fry. Morgan Seymour earned an assist on the Wolverines’ final goal of the game.

Both Seymour and Niezgoda added a defensive save to help the Wesley netminding trio to preserve the shutout. Seymour’s defensive save added to her nation-leading total, giving her 19 on the year.

Men’s soccer

Delaware 3, College of Charleston 0: Thomas de Villardi, Fede Prieto and Ben Sampson all scored for the Blue Hens in their victory on senior night.

St. Mary’s 4, Wesley 0: Tanner Yaw made five saves, but the opportunistic Seahawks still found a way to score as they handed Wesley the loss. St. Mary’s keeper Zack Haussler was called into action three times, but was up to task on each occasion to earn the goalkeeping win.

Wesley nearly took the lead in the 39th minute. After earning a free kick on a foul at midfield the Wolverines played a ball from the back into the attacking area. Danny Garza collected it and ripped an off-balance attempt that went begging just past the near post.

Minutes later St. Mary’s cracked the scoreboard with their first goal on a breakaway, and followed it shortly thereafter with their second breakthrough to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Seahawks continued to apply pressure, outshooting the Wolverines 9-6 in the frame. The visitors’ second half goals came on through balls that found their way between Wesley defenders that the Seahawk attackers finished off.
