Jacarra Jackson tallied a goal in each half as Dover High downed Mt. Pleasant, 4-1 in nonconference field hockey on Wednesday afternoon.

The Senators (8-4-2) led 3-0 at halftime before picking up their fourth win in the last five games.

Ashley Manifold and Aimee Petit de Mange also scored for Dover, which got five saves from goalie Madison Francois. The Senators outshot the Green Knights, 10-6.

Smyrna 2, Middletown 0: Taylor Brittingham and Alexis Moore scored first-half goals to pace the Eagles (8-6-2).

Katelynn Porter made a pair of saves as Smyrna finished with advantages of 19-2 in shots and 7-6 in corners.

Polytech 1, Indian River 0: Mairead McKibben scored at the 14:30 mark of overtime to lift the Panthers to the Henlopen Conference win.

Polytech, which got four saves from Holly Rembold, outshot the Indians, 12-4, and held a 14-5 edge in corners.

IR’s Mya Parks made eight saves.

St. Thomas More 2, Delmarva Christian 0: Ellie Kim tallied a pair of first-half goals to lead the Ravens.

St, Thomas More held an 8-5 edge in shots with both teams having six corners,

Sussex Central 7, Seaford 0: The Golden Knights used a five-goal second half to put away the victory on Tuesday.

Boys’ soccer

Laurel 4, Indian River 2: The Bulldogs scored twice in the second half to snap a 2-2 tie and topple the Indians to capture the Henlopen South title.

It was IR’s first loss to a South team since falling to Seaford in 2009, ending an unbeaten streak of 51 straight games.

Both teams finish 6-1 in the division with Laurel winning the title on the head-to-head tiebreaker. Laurel will play Caesar Rodney in the Henlopen Conference championship game on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the DE Turf Complex.

The two teams didn’t play during the regular season.

Sussex Tech 2, Sussex Central 1: Michael Barr and Joshua Artiga netted first-half goals as the Ravens posted the Henlopen North victory.

Sussex Tech finishes in a tie for the North title with Caesar Rodney and Cape Henlopen, all at 5-1 in the division. The Riders take the title based on tiebreakers.

The Ravens (9-6), who end the regular season with a four-game winning streak, got seven saves from Jodi Johnson.

Smyrna 8, Dickinson 0: Dakota Kerr (1 assist) and Nick Taylor netted two goals apiece to lead the Eagles.

Also scoring for Smyrna were Cornelius Yancy (1 assist), Dylan Chi, Fitzgerald Freeman and Iverzon Orozco-Lopez. Abdul Musa made a pair of saves to earn the shutout.

Seaford 7, Design-Lab DE 1: The Blue Jays scored three goals in the first half and four in the second before earning the nonconference win.

Middletown 7, First State Military 1: Alexis Flores-Gutierrez scored the Bulldogs’ lone goal with goalie Christopher Shea making nine saves.

Football

Smyrna-Sallies tickets on sale: Tickets for Friday night’s Smyrna-Salesianum football game will only be sold in advance.

No tickets will be sold at the gate for the game, which is being played at Wilmington’s Baynard Stadium.

Tickets, which are $5 each, will be on sale at Smyrna today and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

College football

Hens announce ‘18 schedule: The Delaware football team will open next season with three straight home games to highlight the 2018 schedule announced Wednesday.

The Colonial Athletic Association announced the entire composite schedule for all 12 conference members, including the eight-game league schedule and three non-league opponents for each team.

The Delaware schedule will again include a six-game home slate, including two non-league matchups and home battles against longtime league rivals Villanova and Towson.

The Hens’ season will kick off on Aug. 30 with Delaware hosting Rhode Island. In addition to Rhode Island, Towson (Oct. 27), and Villanova (Nov. 17), Delaware will also play host to non-league foes Lafayette (Sept. 8), Cornell (Sept. 15), and CAA opponent Elon (Oct. 13).

Road games will include a first-time visit to NCAA FCS power and five-time national champion North Dakota State on Sept. 22 and visits to CAA opponents Richmond (Oct. 6), New Hampshire (Oct. 20), Albany (Nov. 3), and Stony Brook (Nov. 10).
