For the second straight game, the Delaware State men’s basketball team had to go to overtime.

But, also for the second game in a row, the Hornets found a way to pull out the victory.

DelState out-dueled Florida A&M, 80-77, in OT to run its winning streak to three games in a row on Monday night at the Al Lawson Center.

It’s the longest winning streak of the season for the Hornets (5-6 MEAC, 8-18 overall). The victory avenged a 13-point loss to the Rattlers on Jan. 28.

DelState outscored FAMU, 14-11, in overtime, Devin Morgan hit a go-ahead three-pointer with two minutes remaining in OT.

The contest marked the first time since the 1999-2000 season that the Hornets have played back-to-back OT games.

DelState shot perfectly in overtime, going 4-for-4 from the floor — including a pair of three-pointers — and 4-for-4 from the foul line.

Kavon Waller (19 points), Morgan (17) and Polytech’s Devaughn Mallory (14) all scored in double figures for DelState, which led 30-25 at halftime.

WOMEN, Florida A&M 69, Delaware State 61: The Hornets dropped their third MEAC game in a row on Monday night.

Delaware State is now 2-9 in the MEAC, 3-21 overall.

Wrestling

Dover 40, Milford 39: The Senators collected six pins and a key major decision to edge the Buccaneers on Friday night.

Anthony Glass (106 pounds), Tykwan Joyner (120), Tynik Sanders (126), Raeshawn Alexander (132), An-thony Fisher and Nicholas Lee (145) all won by fall for Dover with Divine Watkins (160) adding the major decision.

For the Buccaneers, Robbie Rosser (113), Alex Creasey (152), Kaje Reynolds (170), Bevensky Augustine (182), Dominyc Hovington (195) and Bryon Wynes (285) all posted pins.

Cape Henlopen 52, St. Georges 21: Trailing 18-11, the Vikings reeled off seven straight individual victories to take control of the nonconference match on Monday.

Winning by pin for Cape were Zackery Flores (285), Vincent Diego (138), Cory Lawson (160), Christopher Handlin (170), Brock Maloomian (182) and William Ott (220).

Laurel 60, Glasgow 21: The Bulldogs registered six pins in the nonconference win on Friday.

Laurel’s pins came from David Elliott (106), Isaiah Jenkins (120), Chase Phippin (152), Roman Hen-riquez (170), Michael Handy (220) and Khashad Gillespie (285).

Girls’ basketball

Sts Peter & Paul HS 45, Delmarva Christian 40: Cam Breasure netted 14 points for the Royals in the loss on Monday.

Mara Agapito added 10 points for Delmarva Christian, which was outscored 12-5 in the fourth quarter.

College equestrian

Hornets drop two to ranked teams: The Delaware State equestrian team dropped a pair of decisions to national heavyweights Georgia and South Carolina last weekend.

The Hornets fell to No.8 South Carolina 14-6 and were upended by No. 7 Georgia 18-2. DSU’s Shelbe Gar-rett was Most Outstanding Performer in the competition with a score of 69 aboard “Ashe.”

Lizzy Koons (“Garth”) was also a Reigning winner for the Hornets, posting a score of 68.5.

Emily Fick rode “Forrest” to a score of 70 to earn Delaware State’s lone point in Horsemanship vs. South Carolina.

In the Hunt Seat event, Delaware State’s Hayley Anderson and Rachel Dantley were winners in Fences. Anderson tallied a score of 84 aboard “Romeo,” third-best among all competitors in the event.

Dantley, riding on “Granit,” posted a winning score of 78. Molly Gara (“Posh’) was Delaware State’s lone winner on the Flat with a team-high score of 78.

In the Georgia contest, the Hornets were outscored 8-2 in the Western competition and 10-0 in the Hunt Seat rides. Koons picked up her second victory of the weekend with a score of 67.5 aboard “Smoke” in Reigning.

Blayne Bell was the Hornets only other winner vs. Georgia, collecting a point for her score of 73 on “Tuffy” in Horsemanship.
