Jared Hickox and Andrew Carney combined to pitch a one-hitter as Dover High downed A.I. DuPont, 11-1, in baseball on Saturday afternoon.

Hickox, who pitched the first four innings, also drove in three runs for the Senators (9-2), who overcame an early 1-0 deficit.

Hiram Davis (3-for-4, 2 RBI), Jarvis Worthy (2-for-3, 3 runs), Cameron Turner (2-for-2), Dylan Jacobs (2-for-4, 1 RBI) and Avery Tunnell (2-for-4, 1 RBI) all paced Dover’s 14-hit attack.

Milford 15, St. Elizabeth 5: Abraham Mow contributed four of the Bucaneers’ 13 hits in their nonconference win.

Pitcher Michael Robertson picked up his fifth win of the season after Milford erupted for 10 runs in the third. Caden Oplinger had two hits and four RBI.

St. Mark’s 1, Smyrna 0: The Spartans scored the game’s only run in the third as Billy Sullivan pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts for the Spartans.

Eric Carrow threw a six-hitter with eight strikeouts for the Eagles.

Salesianum 9, Sussex Central 4: The Golden Knights scored twice in the top of the fifth to tie the score at 3-3 before the Sals took control with six runs in the bottom of the inning.

Tyler Stanley had two of Central’s seven hits.

Sussex Central 3, Middletown 2: Taylor Evick singled home Macey Hayes in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Golden Knights the nonconference victory.

Winning pitcher Hayley McCabe struck out 10 for Central, which led 2-0 before the Cavaliers tied the contest with runs in the sixth and seventh.

Milford 16, St. Elizabeth 4: Darby Brennan drove in four runs for the Buccaneers, who scored five runs in each of their last three at-bats.

Rajene Bowe and C.J. Kohel both had a paur of triples with Morgan Petty (3 runs) going 2-for-2.

Sussex Central 18, Woodbridge 0: The Golden Knights blanked the Raiders in a Henlopen game on Friday.

Lacrosse

BOYS, Wilm. Friends 16, Polytech 8: The Quakers built a 9-3 halftime lead before posting the victory.

Jake Davis (1 assist), Josh Davis, Chris Rutkoski and Zach Trabaudo all had two goals for the Panthers with Noah Lust making 13 saves.

Indian River 18, Sussex Central 6: Wyatt Kovatch netted five goals with John Martin (6 assists) and Gianni Gottschalk (1 assist) both adding four to pace the Indians.

William Josetti (4 assists) tallied three goals for IR, which led 12-3 at halftime. Hayden McWilliams made 15 saves.

GIRLS, Indian River 9, Sussex Academy 8: Lexi Haden scored six goals to lead the Indians to the Henlopen Conference victory.

Delaney Brannon added two goals with Helen Davis scoring one for IR, which got eight saves from Mya Parks.

The Seahawks were led by Kelsey Smith (3 finals), Molly Martiner (2 goals), Isabella Kwan (2 goals) and Phoebe Baker (1 goal). Grace Scott made seven saves.

College baseball

Hornets earn MEAC split: Delaware State scored three runs in the 10th inning and Darrien Ragins recorded his school-record ninth save in the Hornets’ 4-2 victory over Norfolk State in game two of a MEAC North doubleheader.

DSU’s game two win prevented Norfolk State from clinching its third straight division title. The Spartans won the opener, 5-0, on a one-hit shutout by Devin Hemmerich.

The score was 1-1 in the 10th inning of the scheduled seven-inning nightcap, when Tommie Collins singled in pinch runner Rich Rountree with two outs to give the Hornets a 2-1 lead. Kwestin Smith and Jake Bartlett added run-scoring singles later in the 10th to stretch DSU’s lead to 4-1.

Ragins allowed a run in the bottom of the 10th, but retired the Spartans without allowing any further damage to record his MEAC-leading eighth save of the season.

Delaware 5, UNC-Wilmington 2: The Blue Hens received a pair of stellar pitching performances from Ron Marinaccio and Burk FitzPatrick in the Colonial Athletic Association win.

Marinaccio allowed just four hits and no runs while striking out seven in five innings. FitzPatrick entered the game in the sixth and allowed just three hits and two unearned runs.

Catcher Brian Mayer contributed an RBI double, and Nick Paten went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.

College softball

Blue Hens take split: Delaware junior righthander Jordan Cargile fired a five-hit shutout in the nightcap as Hens split a doubleheader with Elon.

The Phoenix (31-18, 8-8 CAA) took the opener, 6-4, before Delaware (20-25, 7-10 CAA) eked out a 1-0 victory during the second game. Elon remains one and a half games in front of the Hens with four league contests remaining in the race for the fifth and final CAA Tournament spot.

Hornets drop two: Lafayette pitchers held Delaware State to eight hits in a 3-1, 8-0, doubleheader sweep of Delaware State.

Delaware State had five hits in the opener, including two by Dani Velez. Desiree Moreno had two of Delaware State’s three hits, including a double.

Delaware State ends the regular season with a 17-27 overall record. The Hornets will next see action in the MEAC Tournament May 10-14 in Ormond Beach, Fla.
