A tough second quarter ended up being the difference Sunday afternoon as Delaware’s six-game winning streak came to an end with a 54-44 loss to Drexel in CAA women’s basketball at the Carpenter Center.

Down by just four at the end of the first quarter, the Dragons (16-6, 7-4 CAA) outscored the Blue Hens, 23-10, in the second. Delaware held Drexel to just 15 second-half points, but it was too little too late.

Sophomore Nicole Enabosi led the Hens (13-9, 7-4 CAA) with 17 points and 10 rebounds for her seventh double-double in nine games. Senior Erika Brown added eight points, two rebounds and two assists.

Brown moved into 10th place on the school’s all-time scoring list and now has 1,281 career points.

The Dragons have won three straight and five of the last six over the Hens.

College track

Wolverines shine in meet: The Wesley College men’s and women’s track & field teams notched 17 top-five finishes at the Frank Colden Invitational, held on Saturday at Ursinus College.

The men’s showing was highlighted by three first-place finishes on the track. Greg Taylor won the 60-meter dash (6.98 seconds), Roland Attoh-Okine won convincingly in the 60-meter hurdles (8.33 seconds) while Taylor, Attoh-Okine, Terrance Mack and Khaaliq Burroughs teamed up to win the 800-meter relay (1:32.40).

Led by their relay teams, the Wolverine women also had a strong showing. The relay team of Angel Hall, Elizsha Streeter, Briana Artis and Quadira Minus won the 800 (1:46.62), more than three seconds better than the second-place team.

The Wolverines will next compete in the two-day Capital Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at Christopher Newport starting on Feb. 17.

Hens win four events: Delaware collected four first-place finishes and had 26 total top-10 performances at the Frank Coldren Invitational held Saturday at Ursinus College.

Olivia Goncerz, who had three top 10 showings, won the 60-meter hurdles (9.06), placed fourth in the triple jump (35-6), and fifth in the long jump (16-11.5).

Also for the Hens, Andriene Rose won the 60-meter dash (7.75) and later placed second in the long jump (17-6); Ashley Bailey captured the top spot in the pole vault (11-11.75) and was also third in the long jump (17-2); while Anisa Fortt won the triple jump (37-1.25).
