David Erickson pitched a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Cape Henlopen High knocked off Appoquinimink 3-1 in a nonconference baseball matchup on Thursday afternoon.

The Vikings (11-6) scored single runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to snap a 1-1 tie against the Jaguars (14-3).

Zach Dale (2-for-3) and Zack Gelof both scored runs for Cape, which won its third game in a row.

Ryan Steckline also threw a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Appo.

Sussex Central 9, Seaford 5: Trey Toppin and Brady Bowden both hit two-run homeruns to power the Golden Knights.

Winning pitcher Dorin Emerick struck out five in six innings for Central, which scored the final four runs to break a 5-5 tie.

Christian Chandler had three hits and a pair of RBI for the Blue Jays.

Sussex Tech 5, St. Mark’s 3: The Ravens topped the Spartans in a nonconference matchup.

Salesianum 7, Indian River 3: Kevin Custis drove in a pair of runs for the Indians in the loss.

The Sals turned four double plays in the first four innings.

Laurel 10, Delmarva Christian 0: Preston Hitchens pitched a five-inning three-hitter and had a pair of doubles to spark the Bulldogs.

The Royals’ Michael Briggs went 2-for-3.

Howard 7, St. Thomas More 6: In a game played at Frawley Stadium, the Wildcats scored the game’s final five runs before winning in the eighth.

De’Markus Lee had three of the Ravens’ eight hits.

Red Lion Christian 2, Lake Forest 0: In a contest that featured just three hits, Spartan pitcher Cameron Beulah had six strikeouts in five-plus innings.

Softball

Dover 12, Seaford 2: Katie Dunlap hit a grand slam and drove in six runs to lead the Senators to the Henlopen Conference win.

Dunlap and Mikayla Frantz combined to pitch a three-hitter.

Ciara Chandler had a two-run single for the Blue Jays.

Delmarva Christian 15, Woodbridge 0: Ashlyn Stonebraker went 4-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored to spark the Royals.

Camryn Thompson and Jaylah Culver combined to pitch a five-hitter while Siera Jones and Thompson had three hits, two RBI and two runs each.

Newark 9, St. Thomas More 5: Margaret Poppiti had a pair of hits for the Ravens while Elise Conlin scored twice.

Lacrosse

BOYS, Polytech 20, Milford 7: Zachary Maheu collected four goals and two assists to pace the Panthers.

Josh Davis (3 assists) and Jake Davis added three goals each as 10 Polytech players scored in the contest.

Dallas Rhodes and Conor Christie (1 assist) each scored twice for the Buccaneers.

Smyrna 10, Newark 7: Jacob Soroko (1 assist) and Jake Kaiser netted three goals apiece as the Eagles finished the regular season at 8-7.

Zachary Haas scored twice with Jonthan Guzman and Brian Davis also scored goals for Smyrna, which led 3-0 after the first quarter.

Tower Hill 13, Sussex Tech 1: Hunter Severs made 17 saves while Edwin Lange scored a first-quarter goal for the Ravens in their season-ending loss.

College baseball

Delaware State 7, Florida A&M 4: The Hornets avenged a 10-run loss to the Rattlers the day before to stay alive in the MEAC Tournament on Thursday evening.

Trailing 2-1, DelState scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take control. The Hornets play their third-straight must-win game today at noon against North Carolina A&T at Perdue Stadium.

In Thursday’s victory, Dover High grad Garrett Lawson struck out nine in 6.2 innings before Travis Dill (Caesar Rodney) and Darrien Ragins finished the nine-inning game.

The Hornets, who fell to FAMU 12-2 on Wednesday, outhit the Rattlers 13-5 in the rematch.

Delaware 17, Charleston 4: Sophomore first baseman Nick Patten went 5-for-5, knocked in seven runs, and hit for the cycle to lead the Blue Hens to the rout.

Patten recorded the first cycle for Delaware since Carlos Alonso accomplished the feat in 2010. The seven RBI are the most by a Blue Hen since Jimmy Yezzo in 2012.

Delaware centerfielder Kevin Mohollen recorded a 4-for-5 day, driving in four, scoring three times, and producing a pair of doubles. Second baseman Nick Tierno went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI while Jeremy Ake also produced a 3-for-5 day.

The Hens (29-20, 14-8 CAA) produced a season-high 23 hits, four doubles, two triples, and three home runs and put 26 runners on base.

College softball

UD’s Kondravy honored: Delaware junior first baseman Mariah Kondravy was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-Northeast Region second team.

Kondravy, who earned first-team All-Region honors as a freshman and second-team accolades a year ago, becomes the first Blue Hen in school history to be named All-Region three times in her career.

Kondravy led the Hens and ranked eighth in the league with a .365 batting average, while her 19 doubles led the conference and tied the UD single season record. Kondravy tied for fifth in the CAA and tied for sixth in a Blue Hen season with 62 hits, while her .576 slugging percentage was the ninth highest in the league.

Wesley’s Marcano earns award: Wesley College senior catcher Nina Marcano earned All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III South first-team honors.

Marcano led the Capital Athletic Conference with 21 stolen bases, ranked third in the conference in RBI (45), batting average (.452), tied for fourth in hits (57), tied for fifth in homers (6) and seventh in on-base percentage (.490).

College golf

UD restructures staff: The University of Delaware announced that its men’s and women’s golf programs will have one coaching staff.

Under the consolidated structure, current women’s coach Patty Post has been promoted to director of golf programs while Mike Keogh and Brendon Post will move into full-time coaching positions within the program.

As part of this reorganization, Keogh has been named assistant men’s and women’s golf coach and recruiting coordinator, and Brendon Post has been named assistant men’s and women’s golf coach and director of player development.
