Dover rallied for a 13-6 victory over Camden-Wyoming to reach the District I championship game in Senior League baseball on Tuesday evening.

Dover will face Smyrna-Clayton today at 7:30 p.m. in Milford in the District I finals. Dover needs a victory to force a second title game on Thursday night.

Smyrna-Clayton topped Dover, 3-2, on Saturday.

In Tuesday’s win, Dover trailed 6-4 before scoring nine runs in the top of the seventh inning. Joey Steele pitched five innings for Dover before Avery Dabney pitched the bottom of the seventh.

American Legion baseball

Del. Post-1 3, Fox Post-2: Post 1 rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge the Kent County squad at Wilmington Charter on Tuesday evening.

Fox Post 2 (8-4) scored a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to take its 2-1 lead. Kendall Small had an RBI single in the inning.

Small, Miquel Rivera (double), Jake Williams and Tevin Thomas all had hits for Fox Post 2. Small took the loss, giving up six hits and striking out four in six-plus innings.

Brian Gilardi pitched the four-hitter for Post 1.

College football

Six Wolverines on all-academic team: Six Wesley College football players were name to the New Jersey Athletic Conference All-Academic team.

To be eligible for the squad, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior who has competed in a conference-sponsored sport while achieving a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20.

Representing Wesley among the NJAC All-Academic team members were graduating seniors Joe Callahan and Leroy Cheatham, rising senior Austin Eagle, and rising juniors Nick Falkenberg, Samer Manna and Stephen Yorkman.

College bowling

Hornets honored for academics: The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion Delaware State bowling team has earned national recognition for its work in the classroom.

The National Tenpin Coaches Association has released its annual list of teams with “exemplary” grade-point averages for the 2015-16 academic year. To be considered for team recognition, programs must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher.

Delaware State was sixth among the 17 programs that reached the standard with a team GPA of 3.542.

In addition, five Hornet bowlers are among 163 student-athletes earning NTCA All-Academic recognition by maintaining at least a 3.4 GPA for the 2015-16 school year.

Delaware State’s newest All-Academic bowlers are Elizabeth Burkholder, Amoni Knight (Dover), Amber MacLeod, Stephanie Sheridan and Ryanne Tyler.

Coach Elysia Current led the Hornets to the third MEAC bowling championship in team history with a 4-1 victory over Norfolk State on March 27 in Virginia Beach, Va. Sheridan was also selected as the MEAC’s  Most Outstanding Tournament Performer.

The Hornets also qualified for the United States Bowling Congress National Championship tournament for the second year in a row during the 2015-16 season.
