Dover High took control in the second quarter before posting a 37-26 victory over Cape Henlopen in Henlopen Conference Northern Division girls’ basketball on Tuesday night.

The Vikings led 9-3 in the first quarter before the Senators outscored them, 17-2, in the second period.

Sophomore Brionna Hill had a game-high 18 points, sinking eight of Dover’s 13 field goals. The Senators’ win avenged a one-point loss to Cape on Jan. 5.

Paige Mohr had a team-high seven points for the Vikings.

Caesar Rodney 52, Sussex Tech 45: The Riders outscored the Ravens, 16-9, in the fourth quarter to break away from a 36-36 tie.

Alissa Haith netted a game-high 18 points as Henlopen North-leading CR won its ninth straight game. Brionna Brooks added 11 points, including three three-pointers.

Sussex Tech got 16 points from Kara Hignutt and 15 from Rukiya Davis, who hit three threes.

Woodbridge 53, Lake Forest 45: Altia Anderson tallied 19 points to pace the Raiders to the Henlopen South victory.

Yaz Hill added 16 points while Mykle Crippen had 12 for Woodbridge, which held a 37-28 advantage after three quarters.

Arika Burrell had 19 points to lead the Spartans while Daia Daniels scored 10.

Smyrna 72, Polytech 55: Leading by only three at halftime, the Eagles outscored the Panthers, 18-5, to take control of the North matchup.

Smyrna’s Melena Credle had 26 points with teammate Jayla Smith scoring 22. The two players combined for five three-pointers.

Tamia Mathias had 24 points to pace Polytech while Charise Castello added 14.

Milford 47, Indian River 32: The Bucs took a 32-15 halftime advantage en route to the South win.

Kiarra Brittingham had a game-high nine points with Brianna Cahall and Tyra Mifflin adding eight points apiece.

Boys’ basketball

Milford 66, Indian River 24: The Buccaneers opened up a 40-12 halftime lead as they clinched the Henlopen Southern Division title.

Eugene Riley netted 18 points while Henry Nesmith added 16 points, hitting three of Milford’s four three-pointers.

Smyrna 59, Polytech 42: The Eagles shook off an early seven-point deficit to pull away to the North victory.

Woodbridge 63, Lake Forest 54: Cornell Corbin scored 24 points and Hassan Corbin had 23 to pace the Raiders to the South victory.

Woodbridge led 51-38 going into the fourth quarter.

Cameron Lewis (20 points), Dominique Griffith (13) and Kobe Mumford (11) all scored in double figures for the Spartans.

Laurel 59, Delmar 51: The Bulldogs outscored the Wildcats, 26-12, in the fourth quarter to rally for the Henlopen South win.

Sussex Central 76, Delmarva Christian 49: The Golden Knights sank 11 three-pointers as they pulled away to the nonconference victory on Monday night.

Tai’Ron (16 points) hit four three-pointers while Ethan Lambert scored 15 points. Seven Central players hit a three in the contest.

Aaron Mollock had a team-high 12 points for the Royals.

Seaford 64, Mardela 34: JaQuan Darling collected 20 points and seven assists to pace the Blue Jays to the win on Monday.

Andrez Jones added 15 points, including three three-pointers, for Seaford, which led by 30 going into the fourth quarter.

Woodbridge 63, St. Mark's 18: Enrique Ramos (132 pounds) posted a 31-second to highlight the Raiders’ nonconference win on Monday.

Robert Boyer (120) also won by fall for Woodbridge, who won eight matches by forfeit.

Woodbridge 72, Newark Charter 9: The Raiders posted six pins in picking their other nonconference victory in Monday’s tri-match.

Aahmad Jackson (113), Robert Boyer (120), Enrique Ramos (138), Adam Hardy (145), Robert Bove (160) and Jerome Cannon (106) all won by fall.

Caravel 39, Lake Forest 25: Trevon Hardeman (195) and Jordan Springer (285) both had pins for the Spartans in their nonconference loss on Monday.

College track & field

Wesley’s Simpson wins award: After setting a program record, a conference record, and setting the standard for NCAA Division III in the 60 meters, Wesley College freshman Anthony Simpson has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week.

Simpson raced to a CAC-record time of 6.77 seconds in the 60 meters, breaking the old mark of 6.84 from 2014. The sprinter also placed second in the 200 meters at 22.62, the fourth fastest time by a CAC runner this season.
