Dover High scored six first-half goals before registering an 8-1 victory over Caesar Rodney in Henlopen Conference field hockey on Tuesday evening.

The Senators (4-4 in conference, 5-4 overall) have won three games in a row. It was also their third straight victory over the Riders.

Senior Kristen Adkins had three goals and an assist for Dover, which finished with advantages of 28-2 in shots and 12-1 in corners. Jacarra Jackson scored twice.

Also scoring for Dover were Mira Prisco (3 assists), Ally Manifold and Taylor Hutchins (1 assist). The shutout was the Senators’ third of the season.

Jessie Prillaman scored a first-half goal for the Riders with goalie Tylin Martin making 18 saves.

Polytech 8, Sussex Central 0: The Panthers led only 1-0 at halftime before breaking open the contest in the second half.

Cam Dennis scored Polytech’s first two goals with Lacy Bayley, Maddi McKay (1 assist), Tara Bond, Meadow Watkinson, Grace Stang and Madison Knight (1 assist) accounting for the others.

Cape Henlopen 2, Sussex Tech 1: The Vikings had to score twice in the second half to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit and keep alive their longstanding winning streak against in-state teams.

Indian River 5, Seaford 0: Five different players scored for the Indians in their Henlopen Conference win.

Riley Cordrey, Lexi Haden (1 assist), Erin Haden (1 assist), Madi McGee and Kelsey Murray all tallied goals.

Seaford’s Yeliz Kurt made 34 saves.

Delmar 10, Laurel 0: Peyton Kemp scored three goals as the Wildcats (9-0) remained undefeated.

Morgan Fletcher (1 assist) and Marley Ruark both scored a pair of goals with Caitlyn Wink (1 assist), Logan Walls and Morgan Bradford also scoring for Delmar.

Laurel’s Alexandria Ullman stopped 30 shots.

Red Lion Christian 2, St. Thomas More 1: The Lions scored with four minutes left to break a 1-1 tie.

Nicole Rainford tallied a first-half goal for the Ravens with Ryan Anderson making 10 saves. St. Thomas More outshot Red Lion, 14-12.

Boys’ soccer

Caesar Rodney 3, Milford 0: Jalen Victory tallied a pair of first-half goals and a second-half assist to lead the Riders.

Thomas McPoyle added a goal in the second half for CR (6-3), which won its sixth game in a row. Nathan Reid made four saves in the shutout as the Riders held advantages of 23-5 in shots and 6-1 in corner kicks.

Milford’s Jaxson Turner made 15 saves.

Polytech 8, Lake Forest 0: Zachary Maheu netted three goals as the Panthers (8-0) remained unbeaten.

Marco Maddalena added two goals and an assist for Polytech, which led 5-0 at halftime. The Panthers’ other goals came from Ryan Hesterman, Anthony Flamer and Patrick O’Brien while Bryce Wahinya had three assists.

Smyrna 2, Woodbridge 1: Dakota Kerr scored the game-winner in the 78th minute as the Eagles rallied for the win.

Nicholas Taylor’s goal tied the contest six minutes earlier for Smyrna. Abdul Musa made five saves for the Eagles, who held advantages of 12-6 in shots and 4-2 in corner kicks.

Dyllan Rust scored for Woodbridge with Leslie Hayes stopping eight shots.

Seaford 4, Dover 3: Pierre Madeus’ third goal of the night snapped a 3-3 tie and lifted the Blue Jays to the win.

Antonio Ambrosino also had a goal and three assists for Seaford, which trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Mick Delima, Emerson Escalcle Juan Cortes all scored for the Senators.

Indian River 5, Sussex Tech 1: Mikie Mochiam (1 assist) and Oscar Cruz-Osorio each scored twice in the first half for the undefeated Indians (7-0).

Johan de jesus Cordoba (1 assist) scored IR’s first goal with Zane Richard making five saves and Kevin Calles adding two.

Joshua Artiga scored in the second half for the Ravens while Anthony Hitchcock made seven saves.

Cape Henlopen 7, Delmar 1: Zach Gelof had three goals and an assist to spark the Vikings’ victory.

Ulysis Slagle (1 assist) scored twice with Jakob Gelof and Harold Ayala also scoring goals. Alan Marin-Quiroz made five saves for Cape which finished with edges of 24-6 in shots and 7-0 in corner kicks.

Jamel Allen scored a first-half goal for the Wildcats.

Sussex Central 4, Laurel 2: The Golden Knights built a 3-0 halftime lead before claiming the win.

Volleyball

Polytech 3, Indian River 0: The Panthers picked up the victory by scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-20.

Pacing Polytech were Emily Campbell (11 kills, 3 aces, 18 digs), Kaylee Williams (6 kills, 2 aces, 11 digs) and Ashley Blaeuer (2 aces, 7 digs, 17 assists).

Carly Collins and Julia Bomhardt had four kills apiece for the Indians.

Caesar Rodney 3, Lake Forest 1: The Riders shook off a first-set loss to down the Spartans, 21-25, 25-11, 25-12, 25-10.

Sara Cessna (9 kills, 5 aces), Shivani Modi (5 kills, 4 aces) and Ana Lucia Villabona (4 kills, 3 aces, 20 assists) all led CR.

Smyrna 3, Woodbridge 0: The Eagles picked up the victory by scores of 25-6, 25-8, 25-6.

Sussex Academy 3, Sussex Central 2: The Seahawks took the final two sets to earn a 25-14, 25-27, 15-25, 25-15, 15-9 victory.

Bailey Hesson (9 aces, 5 digs, 8 assists) and Searra Pollitt (5 aces, 4 digs, 11 assists) had nine kills each for Sussex Academy, which won its third match in a row.

Cape Henlopen 3, Milford 1: The Vikings won the match by scores of 25-9, 25-17, 14-25, 25-19.

Madison Rogers (5 kills, 8 aces, 7 digs, 11 assists) and Deanna Maloney (7 kills, 1 ace) led the Buccaneers.

Delmar 3, Dover 0: The Wildcats posted a 25-13, 25-23, 25-21 victory on Tuesday.

Avery Wheatley had 12 kills and 10 digs for Delmar with Samantha Lehman adding 24 assists and six digs.

College field hockey

Wesley 1, Shenandoah 0: Lauren Niezgoda (Caesar Rodney) tallied the lone goal as the Wolverines (4-11) won their third game in a row.

Kelsey Fromal assisted on the goal, goalie Makenzie McIntyre recorded her second consecutive shutout and Morgan Seymour (Smyrna) increased her defensive saves tally to 16 on the season with three in the game.

In the 54th minute, Niezgoda inserted a penalty corner to Isabella Lucia at the top of the arc. The senior fired in a shot that was stopped in front by Fromal, who then dished back to Niezgoda for the finish.

Hens up to No. 8 in poll: The Delaware field hockey team continues to move ahead in the national polls as the Blue Hens moved up one spot to No. 8 in this week’s Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches poll.

The Hens are 12-2, the program’s best start since 1988. Delaware is one of just six Division I squads with two or fewer losses this season.

Also for the Hens, midfielder Greta Nauck was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.

Nauck tallied three goals and two assists for eight points in wins over Michigan and Hofstra this past weekend. She currently is tied for fourth nationally with 1.21 goals and 2.93 points per game.

College volleyball

Washington College 3, Wesley 0: The battled tough, holding late leads in games two and three, but could not overcome the Shorewomen.

Jessica Tynes and Tionne Graves-Brown each finished with double-doubles, registering 13 kills apiece with 11 digs and 10 digs, respectively.

Tynes led Wesley (9-12) with 14 digs while Beth Schlecker added a team-high 20 assists to go with five kills, eight digs, and a block.

College athletics

DelState hires administrator: Delaware State University Vice President and Director of Athletics Skip Perkins announced that Alecia Shields-Gadson has been appointed as the school’s new Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.

Shields-Gadson will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive compliance program within the DSU athletics department. She will head the day-to-day operations of the Office of Compliance, which monitors the institution’s adherence to NCAA legislation involving issues in recruiting, initial and continuing eligibility, athletics grant-in-aid, awards and inducements, and Title IX. Shields-Gadson will also serve as a Deputy Title IX Officer and a member of the Equity Resolution Panel for the DSU campus.

Shields-Gadson served more than 20 years in intercollegiate athletics as a senior level administrator and head coach, most recently at fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference member Coppin State. While at Coppin State, she twice served as interim director of athletics, interim director of compliance, and in her role as Deputy Director of Athletics/SWA, she had direct oversight of several administrative areas most notably academics, media relations, marketing and promotions and sport administration.
