WASHINGTON, D.C. — Delaware State couldn’t slow down Howard on Monday night, falling to the Bison, 85-66, in MEAC men’s basketball.
The victory was the fourth in a row for the Bison (9-4 MEAC, 15-15 overall) while the Hornets fell to 6-7 in the MEAC, 13-16 overall.
Howard built a 43-32 halftime advantage before winning its sixth meeting in a row with Delaware State. The first half featured six ties and five lead changes.The Bison led for over 34 minutes of the game
Martaz Robinson finished with a team-high 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Hornets while Jevin Muniz added 14 points. DSUI made 4-of-14 shots from three-point range.
The Bison got 24 points from Jordan Hairston and 23 from Elijah Williams.
DSU closes the regular season with a MEAC game at UMES on Friday evening.
WOMEN, Howard 61, Delaware State 43: The Hornets fell to 4-9 in the MEAC, 8-18 overall with the conference loss on Monday night.
Ja-Naiah Perkins-Jackson had 12 points for DelState with Savannah Brooks scoring 11. points Deyonce Thompson added six points, nine rebounds and four steals while McKenzie Stewart’s had 12 rebounds.
The Hornets close the regular season at UMES on Thursday night.
Elon 54, Delaware 49: The Phoenix out-scored the Blue Hens by five in the fourth quarter to pull out the CAA win on Sunday.
Delaware (6-10 CAA, 10-18 overall) honored its seniors before their last home game. That group included Jadaia Reid, Rebecca Demeke, Chloe Wilson, Klarke Sconiers and Tara Cousins.
Demeke (5-of-8 on three-pointers), Wilson (seven rebounds) and Ande’a Cherisier (seven rebounds) all finished with 15 points.
Elon snapped its three-game losing streak and now is tied for ninth place with the Blue Hens in the league standings.
Delaware plays its last two regular-season games on the road.
