Rasheed Woods ran for three touchdowns as Cape Henlopen High blanked Polytech, 37-0, in Henlopen Conference Northern Division football on Friday night.

The contest, originally slated to be played in Woodside, was moved to Lewes because of the heavy rains that hit the area over the last few days.

Cape has an artificial turf field.

Woods scored on runs of 60, five and 38 yards as the Vikings (3-1 overall) scored all 37 of their points in the first half.

Robert Neall added a 20-yard touchdown run with Zachary Dale scoring on a 43-yard pass from Dillon Adams for Cape, which won its second game in a row.

Other games postponed: Only three games involving downstate teams were played on Friday — all on artificial turf — as the other games were rescehdeuled.

Caesar Rodney’s game against St. Georges will now be played today at 2 p.m. with the site being moved to St. Georges, which has artificial turf.

Also today, Sussex Tech will play Sussex Central at 6 p.m.

On Monday, Seaford will host Indian River at 4 p.m. with Lake Forest hosting Woodbridge at 6 p.m. The Lake-Woodbridge game will be broadcast on 105.9 FM with the pregame show starting at 5:30 p.m.

Field hockey

Smyrna 4, Brandywine 0: Freshman Jessica Bergold collected two goals and an assist as the Eagles posted their secodn straight win.

The contest was played at the University of Delaware’s Rullo Stadium as part of the Turf Bowl event being held this weekend.

Cassidy Cook and Kaelyn Press also scored for Smyrna.

Volleyball

Smyrna 3, Polytech 0: The Eagles posted a 25-18, 25-18, 25-13 win in the Henlopen North match.

Leading the Panthers were Kaylee Williams (9 kills, 1 ace, 8 digs), Emily Campbell (4 kills, 7 aces, 19 digs) and Ashley Blauer (3 aces, 13 assists).

College field hockey

Delaware 1, James Madison 0: In a rematch of last season’s CAA title game, the three-time reigning league champion Blue Hens pulled out the victory over the No. 19 Dukes at the rainy JMU Field Hockey Complex.

As has been the case between Delaware and James Madison in each of the last nine, and 15 of 20 all-time, matchups between the two teams, the victor needed just one goal to earn the win.

Sophomore Lisa Giezeman tipped in the lone goal of the evening in the 17th minute off a penalty corner for No. 10 Delaware (9-2). Classmate Kiki Bink assisted on the play.

The Hens have won four of the last five meetings with the Dukes.

College soccer

WOMEN, Towson 1, Delaware 0: Natalia Pinkney scored the only goal of the match 11:30 into the contest to lift the Tigers.

The Blue Hens, who entered the game alone atop the Colonial Athletic Association standings, had a two-game win streak snapped and fell to 3-9 (2-1 CAA) despite outshooting the Tigers 11-9 and holding an 8-5 advantage on corner kicks.

College volleyball

Penn State-Harrisburg 3, Wesley 1: The Wolverines earned a first-game win, but ultimately fell in its Capital Athletic Conference opener.

Tionne Graves-Brown and Jessica Tynes each had double-doubles in kills and digs while Lindsay Burg added a double-double in assists and digs. Graves-Brown’s 20 kills led the Wolverines (8-8), while Burg’s 39 assists were a team-high.

The Wolverines hit .247 as a team, including .289 in the third set, but allowed Penn State Harrisburg to hit .250, including a .452 clip in the third game.
