The Camden-Wyoming 9-10 softball all-stars go into their last game of the season with something special to play for.

The Delaware state champions downed Rhode Island, 3-1, on Thursday morning to earn a spot in the 9-10-year-old Eastern Regional finals.

Camden-Wyoming will face New York today at 11:30 a.m. in Dallas, Pa. for the East title. There is no World Series in this Little League age group.

In Thursday’s victory, Camden-Wyoming (4-1) got six strikeouts from winning pitcher Peyton Shields, who also had a triple and scored a run.

Chloe Donigan (1 hit, 1 run), Cassidy Yiengst (1 hit), Kaitlyn Horton (1 run) and Alexia Figueroa (1 run) also led Camden-Wyoming, which beat New York, 7-2, on Tuesday.

Pennsylvania 9, Milton 5: Milton’s run in the Mid-Atlantic Regional came to an end on Thursday night with the loss in Bristol, Conn.

The nationally-televised contest, which started at 7 p.m., didn’t end until 11:30 because of a two-hour lightning delay.

Milton trailed 5-1 going into the bottom of the third inning when the contest was stopped due to the stormy weather. But Milton got right back into the game once it resumed.

After Hunter Rauch singled and Tyler Husbands walked, Chase Boyle launched a three-run homer into the trees beyond the left field fence to get the Delaware squad back within 5-4.

Pennsylvania, though, got a run back in the top of the fourth to stretch its lead to 6-4. A two-run homer then sparked a three-run burst in the top of the sixth that gave Pennsylvania its 9-4 advantage.

Milton rallied for a run in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out, bases-loaded walk. But, with the tying run at the plate, Pennsylvania got a strikeout looking to end the game.

Brian Sponaugle had two of Milton’s seven hits in the contest while Tyler Husbands scored twice.

Milton was trying to become just the third Delaware team and the first from Kent or Sussex County to reach the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. Milton was making the league’s first appearance in the regional.

Dover holding Fall Ball registration: Dover Little League is holding registration for its Fall Ball baseball and softball seasons.

Players ages 5-16 from Dover, Camden-Wyoming, Marydel-Hartly, Smyrna and Felton-Harrington are eligible to play.

The registration fee is $50 per player. Online registration is available at www.doverll.com or in person at Dover Little League on Aug. 17 (6– 8 p.m.) and on Aug. 13 (1–3 p.m.). A birth certificate is required.
