Madison Brengle’s first-round match at the U.S. Open was rained out on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old Dover native is now slated to face Kirsten Flipkens in the late afternoon today in the Grand Slam tennis tournament in New York City.

Brengle is 0-2 all-time vs. Flipkens, a 31-year-old from Belguim. Flipkens is currently ranked No. 73 in the world while Brengle is No. 81.

Brengle is 2-2 in first-round matches in the U.S. Open in her career. She reached the third round of the tourney in 2015.

Three UD games on TV: The University of Delaware athletic department has agreements with CSN Philadelphia, CSN Mid Atlantic, SportsNet New York, and COZI TV, Delmarva’s NBC affiliate in Rehoboth Beach, to broadcast three Blue Hen football home games from Delaware Stadium during the upcoming season.

Delaware will produce three games for live broadcast: Sept. 30 vs. James Madison, Oct. 14 vs. William & Mary, and Nov. 11 vs. Albany.

All three games will air live at 3:30 p.m. on CSN Philadelphia, COZI TV, and SNY. (The Nov. 11 vs. Albany will air on a one-hour tape delay on SNY.)

Additionally, Delaware has agreed to collaborate with James Madison to produce the Sept. 30th matchup. This game will air live on CSN Mid Atlantic via CSN.

In addition to the three-game deal, Delaware football will also be featured three other times on linear or digital broadcasts this fall. Delaware’s Sept. 9 game at Virginia Tech will air as part of the Atlantic Coast Conference Network Extra package.

The Hens will also appear twice as part of the Colonial Athletic Association’s new “Game of the Week” partnership with CBS Sports Digital announced earlier this month — Richmond on Oct. 21 and at Maine on Nov. 4.

With the exception of Oct. 21 vs Richmond, all of Delaware’s home games will also be streamed live on bluehens.com.

MEN, Delaware 2, Bryant 0: The Blue Hens opened the season with the victory on Monday night.

Senior captain Thibault Philippe registered a penalty kick goal, while fellow captain John Schroeder tallied an assist. Chad Poarch added his first career goal, while goalie Chad Morton tallied another shutout.

Delaware dominated possession in the second half, outshooting Bryant (0-2) by a 12-7 margin.

Delaware won its season opener for the fifth consecutive season and for the eighth time in the last 12 years.

Morton recorded his 20th career victory, and he currently needs just five more victories to become the winningest goalie in program history.

Morton’s 12 career shutouts are the fourth most in program history. He needs just three more to move into second place all-time.
