Rose Marie 'Sweetsie' Landon, 80

CRISFIELD - Rose Marie "Sweetsie" Landon, of Crisfield, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was 80. Born in Crisfield on Jan. 16, 1928, she was a daughter of the late W. Washington and Agnes Justice Tyler. Her husband of 56 years, Charles Lee Landon, died Jan. 22, 2005. A Crisfield High School Graduate of the class of 1944, "Sweetsie" was a retired cafeteria manager at the former Carvel Hall Cutlery in Crisfield. Prior, she worked at Rubberset Corp., the former Mrs. Paul's Kitchens, and was a telephone operator for the former C&P Telephone Company. She was a member of Somerset Free Methodist Church in Crisfield where she sang in the choir. She loved flowers, gardening, and most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two children, David Lee Landon and wife Carrie of Portsmouth, Va. and Susan Smith and husband Ted of Crisfield; three grandchildren, Kelly Parks of Crisfield, Chad Landon of Summerville, S.C., and Zachary Landon of Walterboro, S.C.; her sister, Joan Tawes of Salisbury; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, William Cranston "Snooks" Tyler, Charles "Dolly" Tyler, Eugene "Bay" Tyler, Wayne Tyler and Philip "Buster" Tyler; and three sisters, Helen Chaffey, Faye Tyler and June Tyler Landon. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at Somerset Free Methodist Church in Crisfield. The Rev. Samuel Horner officiated. Burial was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. Memorial contributions are requested to be sent to Somerset Free Methodist Church, c/o Becky Corbin, 26739 Old State Road or Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad, LSCARS, P.O. Box 406, both Crisfield, Maryland 21817. Arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
