BALTIMORE - Rosalie Parker Mapp, 82, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at University Hospital in Baltimore.
Mrs. Mapp was born in Hurlock, to the late Charles and Catherine Parker. She was raised in Hurlock and attended school in Dorchester County.
She later moved to New Jersey, and while there she worked as a domestic worker for five years. Later she moved to Baltimore, where she worked as a supervisor at Spring Grove State Hospital, retiring in 1994.
She loved to travel with her friends to Atlantic City. She also attended church in the Baltimore area.
She was married to Ralph Mapp, who preceded her in death. From this marriage she had two sons, Thornton (Clementine) of Seaford, Del. and Allen of Hurlock.
Mrs. Mapp is survived by one sister, Ethel Fletcher (Lester) of Baltimore; three brothers, Charles Parker Jr. of Federalsburg, Tindley Parker (Mary) of Hurlock, and Douglas Parker of Baltimore; a brother-in-law, Elwood Mapp of Baltimore; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Lamentha Elbert of Preston; and a special nephew, Ivan Parker Sr. of Upper Marlboro; a friend of the family, Gloria Jerry of Baltimore; a longtime friend, Geraldine Gray; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Viewing will held on Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hurlock United Methodist Church, Main Street, Hurlock.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, at the church. Burial will be in the Petersburg Cemetery, Hurlock.
