Ronald Ralph

Lockwood, 79 DOVER - Ronald Ralph Lockwood passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at home. Mr. Lockwood was born at home on November 20, 1933, in Oneonta, N.Y., weighing only one pound. He is the son of the late Lodovico Leander Lockwood and Maude Conklin Lockwood. He retired after 23 years with honors as a Captain serving in the U.S. Army. He was drafted for the Korean War after high school and served through the Vietnam War, where he was the proud recipient of the Bronze Star. Ron was a very spiritual man who liked to fish, hunt, and play golf. He was a master gardener and was proud of his large garden. He also enjoyed picking wild blueberries and wild strawberries. Every spring he would surprise his wife with handpicked violets. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his eight siblings. He is survived by his spouse of 49 years, Anna Lockwood; two daughters, Kathryn Lockwood of Oceanport, N.J. and Karen Price and her husband, Kevin of Smyrna, Del.; a son, Ronald Ralph Lockwood, II and his wife, Judy of West Long Branch, N.J.; and five grandchildren, Alexandra, Daniel, Lauren, Sarah, and Jackson. A viewing will be held on Monday, April, 22, 2013 from 10 am to 11 am in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am in St. Polycarp's Roman Catholic Church, located at 135 Ransom Lane in Smyrna. Burial with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
