ELLENDALE - Ronald L. Carey, Sr. passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Ronald was born in Milton, the son of the late Arthur R. and Mary Porter Carey. He grew up in Milton and lived in Rehoboth Beach for many years with his wife and family. He was a loving father and family man and a longtime caregiver of his wife Shirley. He owned and operated Carey's painting. He was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Past Worthy Grand Patron. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. He loved to travel and visit National Parks and Historical Sites. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Carey of Ellendale; his daughter, Linda Browning of Lincoln; three sons, Ronald Carey, Jr. and his wife Lisa, of Bethany Beach, David Carey and his wife, Michele, of Rehoboth Beach, Michael Carey and his wife Michelle, of Ellendale; two half-brothers, Matthew Carey of Malvern, Fla., and Mark Carey of Naperville, Illinois; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Burial will be private. Contributions may be made to: American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803-0163. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Milton, DE.
