FREDERICA - Rolande Eliason passed away Sunday June 9, 2013 at Courtland Manor. Rolande was born in Paris France. Her greatest joy in life was music. As a young teenager, she used her talent to entertain American troops, during WWII. With the end of the war, Rolande used her ability as an accordionist to obtain work with an all women orchestra; she traveled throughout Europe before meeting her future husband Bob Eliason. Rolande became a military wife and enjoyed the life she had chosen, participating in many volunteer programs the military offered. Like all military wives, Rolande held down the fort, while her husband was overseas. Rolande and Bob had three children, Daniel, Nancy and Mark. Mark had developmental issues and Rolande gave her all, to better Marks life. As the children grew up, Rolande began to use her musical talents by joining the Modern Maturity Center in Dover, helping to raise funds for their many programs. Along with the pleasure of music came dancing, and did Rolande love to dance. She would thank Bill Wilson and his wife and their many friends for enriching her life. Further increasing her musical talents Rolande became an organist at the Methodist Church in Magnolia. Rolande was a devoted mother and wife and will always be in our thoughts. Rolande is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bob; the sons, Mark, Daniel and his wife Angie. Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Burial will be private. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
