Thompson, 68 HARRINGTON - Roland Roger Thompson passed away on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Roland Richard and Dorothy Eloise Thompson Mr. Thompson worked for General Foods for over 47 years on the production line. In his spare time, he enjoyed going places with his buddy, Billy Morris who was a colleague from General Foods. Mr. Thompson also worked at the SPCA for 17 yrs. His favorite pastime was hunting rabbits. At one time, he had over 20 rabbit dogs, many were field champions, and he belonged to the C & R Beagle Club. He also loved working in his yard and keeping it well maintained. He took great pride in keeping his vehicles spotless. He will be remembered as being stern at times, but had a heart of gold. He was a hard worker all of his life and passed along that trait to his sons. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his sons, Jeff Thompson of Chestertown, Md., Gregory Thompson of Harrington, Stephen Thompson of Harrington; sister, Shirley Shockley; three nieces; four nephews; and grandson, Joshua Thompson. Services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
