DOVER - Robert Porter, "Bob" died on Jun. 4, 2015 of a stroke at State Street Assisted Living. He was 81 years young. Robert was born in Pattern, Maine on Jul. 17, 1933. He is survived by his wonderful daughter, Lori Hiser; son-in-law, Greg Hiser (who cared for him); daughter, Brenda Linkerhog; and sons, Tim Ratayack and Bruce Crew. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren. Robert was succeeded in death by his son, Jack Welsh. In his Delaware family he truly loved, he has three brothers and two sisters of Maine, nieces, nephews, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He also has a large family in Salina, Kansas. He is survived there by three daughters, Patty Herr, Eva Williams, and Roberta Braden; and two sons, Wayne Porter, and Larry Porter. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He is succeeded in death by his daughter, June Tunor and son, Dale Porter. He loved spending time joking, laughing, and going to the casino. He was one of a kind. He also had some really close friends such as Raymond Hannum, Ed Rohoff, Gloria McMillan, Lisa Chandornet, and Jack White. He served the USA during the Vietnam War and served for 20 years in the Air Force as a Staff Sgt. and airplane mechanic. Retiring in 1973, he worked for the Kent County Maintenance Department for 15 years. When Bob was young, he was a milk delivery man and enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters. He also worked at the commissary on Dover Air Force Base after retiring to keep busy. The State Street Assisted Living staff enjoyed Bob very much and will be greatly missed there. Funeral services will be held on Sat., Jun. 13th, 2015 at Torbert Funeral Chapel. Family may come for viewing at 11 a.m., services to start at 12 p.m. followed by a military graveside service at Millsboro Cemetery in Millsboro. After returning from Millsboro, the family invites all to refreshments at Lori and Greg Hiser's. The address is 150 N. Halsey Rd Dover, DE 19901 from 3:00-3:30 pm.
