Robert P. Dill

GREENWOOD - Robert P. Dill passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at home. He was born to the late Philemon and Clara B. Dill. Mr. Dill worked as a foreman for the Harrington and Ellendale yards for the State of Delaware. He retired in 1991 after over 30 years of service. He started out as labor, then became a truck driver, and worked his way up to foreman at the Ellendale yard. In his spare time, he loved to garden and he even had a vegetable stand in Ellendale for many years. He worked that produce stand side by side with his wife, Grace. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Dill; sons, James H. Hamilton Jr., John Hamilton, and Donald P. Hamilton; brothers, James and Calvin Dill. He is survived by son, Leon Hamilton of Lincoln; daughters, Doris Shane of Smyrna, Virginia Wasson of Lincoln, and Pearl Fisher of Felton; brothers, Walter B. Dill of Felton and Albert K. Dill of Camden; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
