Robert Morris Thomas

HENDERSON, Md. - Robert "Bob" Morris Thomas, of Henderson, died at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011. He was 61. Born Sept. 2, 1950, he was the son of the late Robert Kenneth and Doris Rebecca Hammond Thomas. His many interests included his love of hunting, especially with his dogs and fishing, he enjoyed spending outdoor time with his son and grandson. He also enjoyed cooking at home and for the Lions Club "especially fried chicken". He was very involved at the 4-H Fair and all Lions Club projects. He also enjoyed spending time with standard bred horses and his many friends that owned and raced them as well as following their results online. He also enjoyed dancing and camping and just loved "being". He was a loving family man and enjoyed spending his time surrounded by them. He was a past President of the Queenstown Lions Club where he was awarded their highest honor a Melvin Jones Fellowship; a member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge #203, a member of Diamond State Beagle Club and ran his dogs under the BT's Kennel logo. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Helen Thomas; a daughter, Libby Bennett of Chestertown; a son, Robby Thomas of Denton; two brothers, Warren Thomas and Dale Thomas, both of Centreville; five grandsons; five step-grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Centreville, Md., at 11 a.m. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville. Memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, P.O. Box 742, Owings Mills, MD 21117; or the Queenstown Lions Club, P.O. Box 212, Queenstown, MD 21658.
