Underwood, 83 DOVER - Robert L. Underwood of Dover passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2014 at Roxborough Hospital, Philadelphia. He was 83. Mr. Underwood was born January 15, 1931 in Jacobsburg, Ohio to the late Roy Underwood and Mary E. Johnson Underwood. He was one of 14 children. He served in the United States Air Force retiring in 1969 as a SMsgt after 22 years of service. Mr. Underwood was part of the Berlin Airlift and served during the Korea and Vietnam Wars. He was a life member of the DAV, Past Commander of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post #2 and Past President of the USAF Sgt. Association. Mr. Underwood enjoyed farming and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Underwood is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy McKain Underwood of Dover; son, David Lee Underwood and his wife Robin of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter, Dorothy B. Cleerdin and her husband John of Smyrna, Debbie Kollar and her husband Gus of Cambra, Australia, Mary Underwood, Dover of Dover; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren. Memorial services will be 1 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2014 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware 19701.
