Robert H. McClain Sr.

CAMBRIDGE - Robert H. McClain Sr., 82, of Cambridge, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at his home. He was born in Cambridge on Feb. 6, 1929, and was a son of the late Carroll T. and Viola Creighton McClain. Mr. McClain graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1947. On Nov. 17, 1947, he married the former Regina Jones. She passed away on Aug. 12, 1998. He was a brick mason and retired in the late 80's, a farmer and also had a family saw mill operation. He enjoyed sharing his produce from his large garden. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, wine making and making turtle pie. Mr. McClain was a hunting guide for some years and a crew member for the Robbins Family Racing Outboard Boats. He was a member of the Farm Bureau. Mr. McClain attended Friendship United Methodist Church and Chateau Community Church. He is survived by two sons, Robert H. McClain Jr. and wife Gail of Cambridge and Gee McClain and companion Tammy Bradshaw of Cambridge; four grandchildren, Scott McClain and wife Tanya of Cannon, Del., Britt Paglush and husband Erik of Wyoming, Del., Chad "Michael" McClain and wife Catherine of Delmar, and Addison McClain of Cambridge; seven great-grandchildren, Stacie McClain, Kristin McClain, Madison McClain, Kyla McClain, Ayden McClain, and Peyton McClain; two step great-grandchildren, Alexis Ruark and Sean Pritchett; a brother, Jack McClain and wife Doris of Cambridge; a niece, Beth Wilson; and two nephews, Dale and Tommy McClain. Pallbearers will be Dale McClain, Tommy McClain, Scott McClain, Chad "Michael" McClain, Butch Grunden and Carlton Nabb. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edgar Cannon and Jim McCready. A funeral service will be 2 p.m., today, Sept. 9, 2011, at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O.
