Robert A. 'Bobby' Naylor, 75
SMYRNA - Robert A. "Bobby" Naylor, of Smyrna, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday April 16, 2008. He was 75.
Bobby was born Oct. 7, 1932, in Galena, Md., son of the late Melvin A. and Harriett (Hopkins) Naylor.
He worked as a pipefitter for General Motors, Wilmington, for 24 years before retirement. He was a member of the Pipefitters Union in Wilmington.
Bobby was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Home.
He became a member of the American Legion in Maryland in 1954 and formerly served on the board of directors of the American Legion David C. Harrison Post 14, Smyrna. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 475, Newark.
Bobby was an avid gardener and enjoyed the company of his many friends at the Legion post.
The family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice for all of their support and a special thanks to Carol and Maureen. A very special thanks to Kathy Fearon for being there for the family. A special thanks also go to Dr. Rowe and all his staff for their loving care and Dr. "Fred" for coming to Bobby's home to take care of his needs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Naylor; and his beloved second mother, Dorothy Naylor.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Hurd Naylor; five children, LaDonna Allen and her husband T.J. of Smyrna, Robert Eric "Ricky" Naylor and his wife Pam of Leipsic, Ranelle Naylor of Clayton, and Roland Lee Naylor and his wife Marie and Rusti Naylor, both of Smyrna; three sisters, Carol Sarver and her husband Jim of Elkton, Md., Helen Waddell and her husband Robert of Alabama and Gail Simmons of Pompano Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a step-grandson; two step-great granddaughters; a step-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be noon Wednesday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
