Richard Marvin Ingram

LEWES - Richard Marvin Ingram, Sr., of Lewes, passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at Beebe Medical Center. He was born in Milford, son of the late Lionel D. and Iva (Rogers) Ingram. Mr. Ingram was a well-known building contractor in the Sussex County area. He owned Shore Building Supply and played a major role in the building and developing of many area residential and commercial properties, including Henlopen Gardens and Fisherman's Wharf. He was an Army veteran and member of Bethel U.M. Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Ingram. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia E. (Prettyman) Ingram; three children, Esther-Ann Ingram, Marlene Ingram Lusk and husband Jeffrey, all of Lewes, and Richard Marvin Ingram, Jr., and wife Nancy, of Dagsboro; four grandchildren, Richard Marvin Ingram, III, Melinda Ingram, Natalie Braxton and Rebecca Lusk; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Richard Ingram, Camden Michael Ingram, Maya Braxton and Emily Braxton; three sisters, Pearl Wilkins, Joan Failor and Fay Graham; one brother, Nelson Ingram; and his best loved buddy, Katie Mae. A funeral service will be held Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Bethel U.M. Church, 129 W. 4th Street, Lewes, DE. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 from 5 - 7 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton. Flowers are accepted, or contributions in his honor can be made to the church.
