DOVER - Richard John Ware passed away July 9, 2022, at home. Richard was the son of the late William Ware and Annie McClelland Ware.
A lifelong resident of Dover, he was a graduate of Dover High School in 1963. He was with the Army National Guard and was assigned to Bethany Beach. Thru the years he worked at Boulevard Electric, Dover and retired from L & W Insurance in 2005, where he was employed as a commercial insurance agent for 27 years. He was a previous member of the Dover Lions Club; Airport Speedway, New Castle; Blackbird Speedway, Townsend, and helped construct and was a board member with the Wildcat Speedway, Dover. As a pool player with leagues in Dover, he won numerous trophies and was able to go the Las Vegas to play in the National Championships.
Richard was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Ira.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Jarman Ware; his brother, James (Margaret Ann), Hebron, Md.; sisters, Mildred Reed, Felton and Ardella Peters (Mike), Richmond, Va.; son, Charles G., Dover; daughters, Wendi Jane Maldonado, Dover, Angela (Angie) Paskell (Mark), San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Mackenzie Ware, Courtney and Riley Maldonado, Quinn Price, and Jax; and great grandson, Timothy Sweeney, Jr. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and all other "family" members that he dearly cherished.
The family is especially grateful to Roseann and Latasha at Delaware Hospice and Rebecca Kohne at Shorecare of DE for their care, kindness, and good times with Richard. All the caregivers that provided him with care were blessings and we can't find a pedestal tall enough for each of them.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Delaware Hospice, Dover.
Memorial service will be Friday, July 15, 2022 at 4 p.m. at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. A gathering of family and friends will be after the service at Smyrna Fire Hall at 5:30 p.m.
