HARRINGTON - Richard C. "Dick" Durnan passed away on June 29, 2015 at his home in Harrington. He was born to the late James and Irene (McDonald) Durnan in Medford, Mass. on February 22, 1929. Richard grew up in Wilmington. He graduated from AI DuPont High School in 1947. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he earned rank of Master Sgt. He proudly served his country from 1948 until 1955. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart during Korean War. He enjoyed crabbing, attending auctions, and watching Fox News. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Robert, James, Philip, Irene Durnan Toomey and infant twins. He is survived by nine children, Richard J., Karen Van Wickler, Stephen, Daniel, Dr. Jerry, Brian, Lorraine, Bruce and Lisa Perkins; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Arthur, Thomas, Rita Mandy, Paul whom he often went crabbing and considered his closest friend, and Fritz; as well as 40 nieces and nephews A graveside service will be held Mon., July 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
